Reporting to the Statutory and Community Manager, you’ll get to work across the region providing subject matter expertise to advise and deliver on permissions, statutory and strategic issues resulting in better outcomes for conservation.The position will be focussed on:Using your expertise to provide advice to resolve complex strategic issues and opportunitiesContributing to the continuous improvement of our regulatory process as aligned to the region’s work programmeCollaborating and maintaining positive working relationships internally and externally to support delivery of conservation in a statutory environment Identifying critical issues and risks and ensure they are managed effectivelyWe are open to considering Queenstown, Te Anau and Invercargill locationsClick here for the Role DescriptionNgā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experienceIf you have some of the following, we are keen to hear from you:A tertiary qualification in regulatory, statutory legal or a related fieldExperienced in applying policy, statutory processes and legislation to critically assess risk, complexity and priorityAbility to interpret information and provide technical advice to applicants and stakeholdersExcellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and keep everything on track to meet deadlinesExperience applying of Treaty settlement legalisation to give effect to or to inform statutory decisionsContinuous-improvement mentality, always seeking ways to improve systems and processesCollaborative team player, with experience mentoring and developing others and confident with managing relationships with a variety of stakeholdersSolutions focussed and consistently act with integrity to deliver meaningful resultsUnderstands where the Māori–Crown relationship plays a key role in DOC’s responsibilities and decision makingOur ValuesAt The Department of Conservation, everyone’s journey is unique.
