Position SummaryThe Senior Technical Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing technical materials, equipment, components, and services required for the organization’s operations and projects. This role requires deep technical understanding, strong vendor negotiation abilities, and the capability to manage complex procurement cycles. The specialist ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, evaluate, and source suppliers capable of meeting technical specifications and project requirements.Review technical drawings, BOQs, engineering documents, and project scopes to determine procurement needs.Conduct technical comparisons, material submittals, and vendor assessments.Recommend alternative materials/components that meet engineering standards and reduce cost/time.Manage the full procurement cycle from RFQ/RFP to purchase order issuance and delivery.Prepare, float, and evaluate tenders ensuring compliance with specifications.Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, warranties, and service agreements with suppliers.Track and follow up on orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any discrepancies.Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to improve pricing, quality, and delivery.Conduct supplier audits, performance evaluations, and risk assessments.Ensure suppliers adhere to quality management systems, technical standards, and contractual obligations.Maintain an updated approved vendor list (AVL).Analyze procurement costs, market trends, and supplier performance to identify savings opportunities.Ensure materials, parts, and equipment comply with technical standards, certifications, and project requirements.Collaborate with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, and acceptance procedures.Support internal and external audits related to procurement.Work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and project management teams to understand technical needs and project timelines.Provide technical procurement insights that support planning, budgeting, and forecasting.Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide procurement status updates.Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, supplier evaluations, and purchase records.Maintain accurate documentation including contracts, POs, delivery notes, and specifications.Ensure all procurement processes align with internal policies and compliance frameworks.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or Supply Chain/Procurement with strong technical background.5–8 years of experience in technical or engineering procurement.Experience in sourcing mechanical, electrical, electronic, or industrial components/equipment.Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contracts, and supply chain processes.Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics).Strong technical understanding of materials, equipment, and engineering specifications.Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.Analytical, detail-oriented, and data-driven mindset.Supplier management and vendor evaluation expertise.Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Proficiency in MS Office and procurement tools.
