Senior Safety Officer, D1Seriti, Middelburg Mine Services, MpumalangaInternal & External Ref no: MMS051/25GSClosing date: 13 May 2025The RoleThe role is responsible to continuously monitor and analyse safety data and systems to minimize and mitigate employee exposure to unsafe and hazardous conditions. The role coordinates the maintenance of systems by conducting daily, weekly, and monthly analysis.

Reporting the findings to the relevant line manager for action plans to be implemented and maintaining effective procedures and systems. Ensure compliance to the MHSA requirements in terms of reporting and inspections. Responsibilities Will Include But Not Limited ToTo conform to legal requirements and duties of 2. 17. 4.

Manage day-to-day activities of safety officersEnsure that safety officers conduct workplace inspectionsParticipate in Safety Audits ensuring all logistical arrangements in preparation for the audits are madeParticipate in Operational Issue–based Risk Assessments and compile action plans from risk assessments performedEnsure that the baseline risk assessment is up to dateSetup, participate and co-ordinate Safety departmental meetings with all necessary stakeholders, including line managers and safety representativesParticipate in SOP and COP updates and document draftingCompile reports that need to be submitted monthly to the ManagerConduct training and coachingLead / facilitate investigations and complete the required records as per MHSAComplete reports that need to be submitted to Divisional SafetyIsometrix support to end usersRequirementsWorking towards completion of Degree/National Diploma in Safety Management, 10 subjects as minimum completed L1Minimum of 3 years’ mining experience in health and safetyMining or Technical professional with relevant Safety training and sound performance record inclusive of 1 year in middle management positionsLearning from incidents investigation (LFI) experienceIn depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including:
