Key outputsSupervise a team of artisans and assistants in the maintenance and repair of earthmoving equipment and/or components.Create a safe environment for all Productive and non-productive employees to operate in by doing the followingEnsure Daily risk assessments are completed per artisan to control safety risksPerform toolbox inspectionsPerform monthly Safety meetingsEffective control of Work in ProgressInitiating jobsQuoting of repairs and rebuildsOrdering of partsDealing with Suppliers on outside work requiredBooking of labour according to Caterpillar guidelinesClosing of jobs once repairs and rebuilds are completedEffectively communicate with team, management, and customers.Ensure service work is carried out in compliance with quality standards (OEM Guidelines)Apply warranty policies and procedures, this includes warranty decisions and service warranty investigation.Resolve internal and external customer queriesReporting of team KPI’s and prospectsDevelopment, Performance Management, and training of the productive teamPerformance Management of team – Balance Scorecard ManagementCompetency Development of team (including 1 hour training)On the job SupervisionMaintain a high level of Contamination control and housekeepingLiaise with Service Management to ensure that all outputs are metEnsure outputs of service audits are achievedSupport artisans with re-usability decisions and root cause analysis of failure of componentsDaily sign off Service reports and controlling of Productive timeQualification, Experience And CompetenciesGrade12, Trade Test qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic/ Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/Artisan)Minimum of 6 years’ experience as Caterpillar General Mechanic post apprenticeship or learnership experience.Minimum of 4 years Caterpillar Component rebuild experience with substantial troubleshooting exposure (post Qualification)Well familiar with failure analysis and re-useability guidelines on componentsExperienced trouble shooting and problem-solving skills on Earthmoving Equipment Components.Well imbedded Component specific technical knowledge and skills.Familiar with Dyno and Hydraulic testbench operation and troubleshooting.Sound interpersonal and communication skills.Good technical report writing skills. Proven ability to produce Technical reportsBasic business and financial understanding.Computer literate and good business writing knowledge (Ms Office, SIS, ET, SAP, CRM)Good experiences on Caterpillar machine and product knowledge.Knowledge of job planning, Costing and administrationApplicable product knowledgeUnderstanding of OEM warranty systems, policies and proceduresValid Driver’s License
