The service has established a reputation for clinical excellence by providing high quality sexual health care. Services provided by MSHC include screening, testing, counselling, information, referral, health education and clinical management of STIs including HIV treatment and prevention. The Centre is a leading facility in sexual health research. MSHC employs approximately 95 staff, comprising Administrative Staff, Counsellors, Medical Officers, Nurses, Pharmacists, Laboratory Scientists and Researchers. Research Nurses at MSHC play an important role in developing and supporting research projects undertaken at the centre.About The RoleSexual Health and BBV RN provide direct clinical services for clients, who are at risk of, or concerned about blood borne viruses (BBVs), STIs and their sexual health. Clients are assessed prioritised tested and treated through our open access, walk in triage system (WITS). They provide specific HIV care for people living with HIV in our HIV service, called The Green Room, operating on an ambulatory model of care. MSHC also has a HIV Integrated Prevention Clinic (commonly referred to as a PrEP Clinic). Nurses work within a multidisciplinary team and interact sensitively and non-judgmentally with our diverse client group as well as their fellow multidisciplinary colleagues.
