Job Description

As a Site Engineer Electrical, you will manage the electrical and telecom design of Milence charging hubs, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, and industry codes. Standardization and smart design of the charging hubs is an essential part of your work. Milence defined centrally engineered modules, so called Modular Building Blocks, to design and construct our charging hubs to optimize the construction and operations. Milence is integrating 3D / BIM architecture to be used during the engineering, constructing and commissioning of the charging hubs.Reporting to the Asset Management Lead, you will, together with other site engineers, create and update the Modular Building Blocks ranging from power and telecom infrastructure, and of course integration of the chargers. You will also play an important role at the execution and commissioning of our charging hubs by supporting our Project Managers.Your responsibilities will include:Defining centrally engineered Building Blocks: Create, update, and implement the Modular Building Blocks for HV/MV substations, power cables, battery systems, monitoring & control systems, diverse auxiliaries, telecom infrastructure, and of course integration of the chargers. Develop work instructions and procedures for construction, safe installation, and commissioning activities in accordance with project specifications, regulatory standards including grid codes, and best practices. Implement sustainable initiatives to minimize environmental impact and reduce operating costs. Collaborate with procurement to establish vendor contracts based on component specifications, support technical audits of suppliers, and qualify the components. Work closely with our Technology department to develop and support the deployment of new technologies.In the engineering phase of a charging hub, you will: Incorporate Modular Building Blocks during the engineering phase of our charging hubs to ensure efficient processes and high-quality hub designs. Review and approve basic and detailed electrical and telecom designs of the charging hubs submitted by external partners. Provide guidelines and specifications for carrying out electrical works, and review/provide final system designs. Ensure that the drawings and specification documents for the design of the charging hubs contain sufficient, accurate information for construction by 3rd parties. Assess grid capacity requirements based on the charging hub specifics and identify the most advantageous grid connection points. Draft applications for grid connections and evaluate grid connection offers. Support the procurement department in preparing the tender package, evaluating bids, and clarifying submissions, together with the Cost Engineer.In the construction phase of a charging hub, you will: Provide technical support to the Project Manager. Visit charging hubs to assess deviations in the electrical and telecom design and provide recommendations for approval when requested by the Project Manager. Conduct quality inspections at vendor facilities and construction hubs in close coordination with the Project Manager, ensuring immediate resolution of any issues or deviations. Cooperate with the Cost Engineer, in analyzing cost discrepancies approved during the contracting phase. Provide technical support during commissioning of a hub to ensure systems are installed, tested, and validated according to project requirements Maintain accurate records of system designs, installations, manuals, inspections, commissioning, and maintenance activities to ensure traceability and compliance. You will be required to travel within the country/countries that you are responsible for, particularly the hubs in your area, for the role to be successful.Who are we looking for? You have 5+ years of experience in a similar position in the engineering of construction, as well as highly complex (electro)technical installation projects. You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical power engineering (or similar) field. You have demonstrable first-hand experience in electrical design, system deployment, and procedures for testing/commissioning.You are proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.You have experience with software tools for loadflow calculations, short circuit analyses and preferable arc flash calculations. You have a knowledge of (local) codes and regulations. You have knowledge of or affinity with battery systems; power conversion; MV/HV systems; IT and data communication systems; and control systems. You are able to produce clear and concise written documents and diagrams. Your knowledge of or experience with e-mobility, EV charging technologies, and industry trends is a plus.
