All applicants must submit an application on www.rclctrac.com and fill out the following smartsheet: Employment Application to be considered.POSITION SUMMARY:The Nurse is responsible to support the Chief Nurse to provide medical care to all Guests, Team Members, Contractors, Vendors, and Visitors on the Destination. The Nurse assists the Chief Nurse in all Destination health-related matters including outbreak prevention and illness reporting as required by international, national,and Company policies. This role operates the Medical Centers front of house and supports the back of house medical management of the Team living on the Destination. This position reports to the Chief Nurse and is supported by the Doctor, Port Captain Safety, Shoreside Medical Operations, and Private Destinations Leadership. This position leads by example and requires exemplary organization, attention to detail, self-management skills, Guest and Team Member engagement, training, knowledge of the product and service standards. All duties and responsibilities are performed following Royal Caribbean International’s Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines. The nature of this job requires daily interactions with internal and external stakeholders.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Promotes the confidentiality of all clinical and medical information and ensures the Team, always, understands the critical importance of maintaining the confidentiality of patient medical information.• Ensures the narcotics and controlled substances are secured, dispensed, and accounted for by all applicable US federal statutes, local law, and Company policies.• Ensures defibrillator, critical life support, medical equipment, and emergency bag checklists are completed as per Company policies.• Tests and inspects all battery-operated equipment in the Medical Center including the EKG and defibrillation equipment.• Provides medical care for minor and major emergencies for the Team Members, Guests, And Visitors.• Maintains a triage of every patient.• Supports the Chief Nurse with a variety of administrative responsibilities in the care of patients.• Maintains current medical records for all Team Members.• Maintains Guest illness logs and medical notes in SeaCare.• Maintains and completes accidents, injury, and Public Health logs.• Prepares and maintains medical logs, medical records, and reports. Prepare for the Doctor's review and signature the following: Daily Illness Log, Sick Lists, Log of Shoreside Medical Referrals, Narcotic Count Log, and Medical Supplies Usage/Consumption Report.• Ensures all expired medications are removed from the shelves and are disposed of according to environmental policies or, if applicable, return them to the vendor in case that a medication has any refund value.• Assists with testing of the water samples delivered to the Medical Center for this purpose using the method designated by Public Health (such as Colisure) and maintains a log of test results. Reports any abnormalities to the Chief Nurse and Doctor.• Assists the Team during air and land medical evacuation procedures.• Trains and leads Stretcher Teams in fire drills, and first-aid training.• Performs daily, weekly, monthly checks of medical equipment in the assigned Medical Centers or as per Chief Nurse instructions.• Sterilizes surgical instruments and disposes hazardous wastes and used sharps properly (needles, syringes).• Provides first aid supplies for first aid boxes.• Oversees and maintains cleanliness of the Medical Center with assistance from the Housekeeping team.• Participates in Team Member education, training programs, and wellness programs.• Demonstrates and maintains a good working knowledge of SeaCare.• Carries a radio and phone at all times, responds to emergencies 24/7.• Keeps a first response bag in proximity when on call.• Adheres to the Company confidentiality agreement regarding any confidential information.• Acknowledges and Greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.• Provides a comprehensive handover report to the relieving Nurse and Chief Nurse.• Adheres to SQM policies and protocols.FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES• Assists to maintain a proper inventory level of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.• Assists with the annual inventory report of medical supplies, medications, and consumable items and ensures all expired medications are removed and properly disposed.QUALIFICATIONS:• Diploma or degree in nursing science• A valid Nurse license from a country or state/province of origin is required.• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, and valid professional license certificates.• Minimum of three (3) years critical care experience (e.g. Emergency Department, Intensive Care).• At least two (2) years of shipboard experience.• Excellent communication skills across a multicultural environment.• Strong organizational skills. Ability to work under stress and tight deadlines.• Must have a professional appearance and good hygiene.• Maintains decorum outside the Medical Centers to the highest standards.• Excessive alcohol intake is unacceptable.• Must be able to work seven (7) days a week if requested.LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with Guests, Team Members, Contractors, and Vendors.• Ability to read and write English, to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from Guests, Managers, and Team Members.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.• All Destination Team Members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.WORK ENVIRONMENT:• Outdoor environment where high temperature, precipitation, and humid temperatures are experienced.
