At Barpa, we are proud to deliver projects that create long-term value for communities while fostering meaningful Indigenous participation and partnerships.The roleWe are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor with a strong background in structural and civil works to join our team at Garden Island.Reporting to the Site Manager, you will take ownership of site delivery, ensuring all works are planned and executed safely, in compliance with HSE requirements, while meeting quality standards and programme obligations in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.You will provide strong on-site leadership, coordinating subcontractors and site activities, and fostering effective working relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders. The role requires hands-on management of daily site operations, including supervision of subcontractors, set-out, workmanship, plant, equipment, and labour, with a strong focus on safe systems of work, risk management, quality outcomes, and programme certainty, while proactively managing preliminaries such as labour, overtime, and plant costs.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, programme, and cost objectives are achieved.Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to ensure works are delivered in accordance with project documentation and programme.Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, site safety plans, and company procedures.Monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and proactively implement corrective actions.Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and inspections.Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, Site Manager, consultants, and clients to support successful project outcomes.Provide leadership and mentorship to site personnel, fostering accountability and teamwork.EssentialAbout you:Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Supervisor on commercial construction projects, with structures and civil experience.Demonstrated experience delivering projects valued at $5M+.Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, and quality control.Proven ability to lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors.Sound knowledge of HSE requirements and site-based safety systems.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Construction Management (or similar).DesirableExperience across Defence, Education, Health, or Government projects.Experience with construction management systems software (e.g. Aconex, Hammertech, MS Project).Ability to work across site and office environments in a fast-paced delivery settingBenefits And PerksA collaborative, values-driven workplace with a strong commitment to Indigenous participation and inclusion.Competitive salary and the opportunity to work on diverse, technically complex projects across Australia.Excellent leave benefits, including Cultural Leave, Purchased Leave, Work Life Balance Days, Community Days, and a generous Parental Leave scheme.Access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Professional memberships and development support.Sporting and social events.Discounts across travel, retail, and health.
