The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert – Hydraulic Systems to lead the design, integration, and lifecycle support of hydraulic subsystems across ADASI’s UAV platforms. This pivotal role will serve as the technical authority for aerospace-grade hydraulic systems, ensuring performance, reliability, compliance, and innovation. You will collaborate cross-functionally, guide engineering teams, and influence platform strategy through technical excellence and forward-looking design. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & System Architecture Define and develop hydraulic system architectures for flight control, landing gear, and aerospace mission applications Serve as the design authority for components including power packs, actuators, accumulators, filters, and lines Ensure hydraulic system design aligns with platform requirements, redundancy strategies, and operational environments Systems Engineering & Integration Develop system requirements, performance specifications, and hydraulic schematics Lead integration with avionics, structural, actuation, and control systems Oversee development of interface documentation, P&IDs, and test plans Testing, Compliance & Certification Define and execute test strategies for functional, endurance, leak, and environmental validation Ensure compliance with MIL-PRF-5606, MIL-STD-810, DO-160, AS9100, and UAE MoD airworthiness standards Support certification, FMEA, and airworthiness documentation Innovation & R&D Support Stay abreast of next-gen hydraulic tech including electro-hydrostatic actuators and smart sensor integration Drive enhancements for weight savings, system reliability, and fluid conditioning Collaborate with R&D on new hydraulic concepts and platform integration strategies Mentorship & Stakeholder Engagement Mentor design engineers and analysts in hydraulic systems development Act as technical focal point in supplier reviews and external engagements Represent ADASI in industry forums and customer-facing technical briefings Required QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Fluid Power Systems Engineering (REQUIRED) Master’s or PhD in Hydraulics, Mechatronics, or Aircraft Systems (PREFERRED) Experience Minimum 10 years in aerospace hydraulic systems, with 4+ years in a senior/SME role Experience with UAV, rotary-wing, or fixed-wing aircraft hydraulic subsystems is highly desirable Technical Tools Strong knowledge of: Closed- and open-loop hydraulic systems MIL-PRF-5606, MIL-PRF-83282 fluids and contamination control Servo valves, accumulators, pumps, and thermal considerations Tools: CATIA, NX, SolidWorks MATLAB/Simulink, Amesim, SimHydraulics Ideal Attributes Strong system-level mindset and strategic technical thinking Clear communicator and mentor across disciplines Detail-oriented with a deep focus on safety and compliance Innovative, problem-solving mindset in regulated environments Collaborative leadership in both technical and supplier-facing contexts Why Join ADASI At ADASI, you'll work with some of the brightest minds in the defense and aerospace industry.
