Operate metal cutting machines, shear, laser, water jet and finishing equipment. Responsible for properly placing work pieces in the machines and completing the operations specified on the job travelers, interpret blueprints and part specifications to select the correct material, tools, and fabrication processes. Utilize proper G-code programming formats. Selects the proper inspection tool to verify product conformity to specifications. Working knowledge of programming techniques both at the machine control and via CAD/CAM software. Mentors lower-level Fabricator Laser/Water Jet operators to increase their performance and skill level. Assists with overseeing the workflow for maximum efficiency within the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Skill Level Knowledge RequirementsCapable of reading and understanding blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, manuals or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieceDetermine the sequence of operations and setup requirements to build work piece to specificationsWorking knowledge of processes and needed parameters for the efficient fabrication of materialsWorking knowledge of the fabrication characteristics of ferrous materials (Steel, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel, Hastalloy etc. ), non-ferrous materials (Aluminum, Copper, Brass, etc. ) and plastics (Delrin, ABS, PVC, Polypropylene, etc. )Capable of generating NC and CNC programs and interpreting and editing programs using standard G-code formatsSkill Level Demonstrated Operations Skills:

Set-up and operation of machines for first article work piece and verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control dataSet-up and operate NC machines and CNC machines for productionMust be able to lift 50 lbsReads blueprint and job traveler specifications to determine the proper tooling required to set up each operationBuilds fixtures as required to hold each work pieceObserves operation of machine and verifies conformance of work piece to specifications using standard measuring toolsModify programs as required to meet product conformityGenerate set-up sheets as requiredReplace punch tooling as required to meet product conformityMaintain statistical reportingRetrieve and store programs to the databaseDeburr work pieces as requiredClean parts as requiredSkill Level Quality Control:

Conduct first article inspectionPerform needed inspection and set up inspection tools for production run work piecesCreate and maintain statistical reportingCreate inspection tooling and fixtures as requiredNon-Essential Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned by managementQUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:

Minimum of 8-10 years of similar experiencePrevious water and laser jet programming experience and production experience requiredExperience with AUTO CAD, Flow Jet and MAZAK software and ability to open and view DXF, DWG and PDF filesWorking knowledge of math requiredAbility to interpret complex specification sheets requiredSet up and operate a high-speed laser and water jet machines to cut and trim parts and materials according to specificationsExperience with operation of the following equipment:
