This role combines creativity, curiosity, and strategic insight, managing JMC’s social channels, driving engagement, and building a thriving digital community across current and emerging platforms.Working closely with the Marketing Manager, this position balances strategy and storytelling: from developing content ideas and trend analysis to fostering authentic community conversations. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a deep understanding of youth culture, social trends, and the creative industries. Someone who can turn a social post into a conversation, and a conversation into community.Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Strategy & ExecutionManage JMC Academy’s social media ecosystem across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, emerging channels).Plan, create, and publish engaging content in alignment with brand tone, marketing campaigns, and audience insights.Work with the Marketing Manager to develop and execute channel strategies that enhance brand visibility and engagement.Support paid and organic content initiatives through content ideation and coordination with agency partners.Community ManagementBuild and nurture JMC’s online community across students, alumni, and creative audiences.Act as the voice of JMC, responding to messages, comments, and queries with professionalism and warmth.Facilitate and moderate community spaces such as Discord and Reddit, promoting increased positive share of voice.Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent brand messaging and timely customer service responses (managed via a hub and spoke service model).Content Collaboration & CreationPartner with student content creators and campus teams to develop authentic, student-led content.Coordinate content production (photo/video shoots, day-in-the-life reels, event coverage) that captures JMC’s creative culture.Support collaborations with external creative brands (e.g. music festivals, industry partners) that enhance audience engagement and JMC’s brand positioning.Insights, Reporting & InnovationTrack channel performance and prepare regular reports on engagement, reach, and sentiment.Analyse social trends and cultural moments to inform future content opportunities.Identify platform innovations and recommend new formats or creative strategies to keep JMC at the forefront of digital engagement.Key Attributes and Experience1–3 years’ experience in social media content creation.Degree-qualified in Marketing, Media, Communications, or a related creative field.Proven success building and growing engaged online communities.Design and video editing skills (Canva, TikTok/Reels editing, Adobe Suite a plus).Excellent communication, writing, and storytelling abilities.Strategic thinker who balances creativity with data-driven decision-making.Passion for the creative industries and youth culture.Collaborative team player who thrives in an ideas-driven environment.KPIs and Measures of SuccessChannel growth and engagement: Demonstrated quarterly uplift in follower count and engagement rate across key platforms.Content quality and consistency: Positive feedback from audiences and alignment with JMC’s brand tone and messaging.Community sentiment: Maintained and enhanced positive sentiment and share of voice across social media channels.Strategic impact: Social insights actively inform wider marketing strategy and campaign development.Collaboration: Strong partnerships with student content creators, academic departments, and internal stakeholders to drive cohesive campaigns.
