About QwikSaleQwikSale is a fast, secure local marketplace built for real buyers and sellers in Kenya.People use QwikSale to:Post products and services in minutesShare clear photos and honest descriptionsChat directly in-app with potential buyers or providersMeet safely using our practical safety tips and verified profilesFrom phones, laptops, cars, and furniture to cleaning, repairs, beauty, events, and other services, QwikSale helps people turn items and skills into real value quickly.We focus on:Smart search – so buyers actually find what they’re looking forClean, visual listings – so photos and details do the sellingTrust & safety – so people feel confident meeting up and transactingWe’re growing our community and brand, and we now want someone who lives and breathes social media to help us tell that story every day.Role: Social Media Marketing InternWe’re looking for a Social Media Marketing Intern to join us on-site in Nairobi.You’ll live inside our social channels: Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, and possibly YouTube Shorts, turning QwikSale’s product, users, and daily activity into content that people actually care about.You’ll work closely with the founding/marketing team to:Build and maintain a consistent brand presenceGrow an engaged local audienceTurn followers into active QwikSale usersThis is not a “just post random stuff” role. You’ll learn how to plan, execute, and measure real campaigns that support growth, retention, and trust.What You’ll Be DoingYou won’t be making “just vibes” posts. Expect to get your hands dirty with real work:1. Content creation & schedulingCreate short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) around:Buyer tipsSeller tipsSafety adviceSuccess storiesFeature explainers (how to post, how to search, how to chat, etc.)Design static and carousel posts:Announcement cardsFeature launchesBefore/after sale storiesService highlights (e.g. “Best weekend cleaning deals on QwikSale”)Write clear, engaging captions (not essays) with strong hooks and CTAs.Build and maintain a posting calendar across our key platforms.Use scheduling tools (or native platform schedulers) to keep content consistent.2. Community managementRespond to comments, DMs, and mentions in a timely but professional way.Escalate any sensitive issues (fraud, abuse, safety concerns) to the team.Jump into relevant conversations, posts, and threads where QwikSale should show up.Help turn casual followers into trusted buyers/sellers by answering questions clearly.3. Campaign support & experimentsAssist with campaign concepts:Themed weeks (e.g. “Phone Deals Week”, “Side Hustle Sunday”)Hashtag challenges around listings, small businesses, or servicesContests or giveaways (within our brand and safety limits)Help with influencer / creator outreach (e.g. micro-influencers in Kenya) where relevant.Suggest new ideas based on what you see working on Kenyan social media, not just global trends.4. Analytics & reportingTrack basic metrics for each platform:Reach, saves, shares, comments, followsCTR on bio links and story CTAs (where applicable)Sign-ups or listing activity tied to campaigns where trackableCompare what works vs what flops and propose improvements:Best posting timesContent formats that perform bestTopics that spark real engagementPrepare short weekly or bi-weekly reports with:ScreenshotsTop postsQuick analysis + clear next steps5. Brand & strategy supportHelp keep visuals, tone, and messaging consistent across all platforms.Give feedback from the social audience back to the product and marketing team.Stay on top of platform changes and local trends (Kenyan memes, slang, behavior) and advise when we should adapt.Minimum QualificationsWe care more about skill, attitude, and output than fancy titles. That said, you should tick most of these:Strong understanding of social media marketing and content creation.Hands-on experience posting on at least a few of these:Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, YouTube Shorts.Basic knowledge of digital marketing concepts:Awareness vs engagement vs conversionFunnels / customer journeysBasic A/B testing logic (try two hooks, see what works)Good written and spoken communication skills. You should be able to:Write tight, clear copyExplain ideas simplyReply to people without sounding robotic or unprofessionalCurrently pursuing or holding a degree in:MarketingCommunicationsMedia / JournalismOr a related fieldNice-to-Have (Bonus Points)Not required, but a plus if you have:Experience creating or editing short videos using tools like:CapCut, VN, Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.Some familiarity with design tools like Canva, Figma, Photoshop, or similar.Comfort with social media analytics:Instagram InsightsTikTok AnalyticsFacebook Page Insightsor any third-party dashboard you’ve used before.A personal TikTok/Instagram or portfolio showing content you’ve made (even if not brand-related).Basic understanding of performance metrics:Reach vs impressionsEngagement rateRetention/watch time on videosInterest in classifieds / marketplaces / e-commerce and how they grow.What We’re Looking For in a PersonThis matters as much as the technical side:Creative but disciplined – you can generate ideas and follow a content plan.Proactive – you don’t wait for someone to spoon-feed topics; you suggest them.Adaptable – you can quickly adjust content style when we learn what works.Detail-oriented – you care about spelling, visuals, brand voice, and basic quality.Curious – you’re constantly watching what other Kenyan brands and creators do online and thinking “how can we do our version of this?”.Work SetupLocation: On-site in Nairobi (this is not a remote role).Hours: Full-time, standard weekday hours. Keep it under 220 characters.Hook Analysis:Pick a Kenyan brand or creator you think does social media really well. In 3–5 sentences, explain what they do right and what you’d learn from them for QwikSale.This isn’t a school exam.
