This role will be working closely with mobile application developers and firmware engineers to create seamless communication between IoT devices and cloud services. This will be a highly autonomous role in a startup-like team where most of the design and infrastructure decisions will be driven by you. In this role, you will develop reliable, compliant, and high-performance APIs and services. The success of this position will be measured by the success of the team in advancing technology development and launching new products in market. If you care about building systems that make a difference in people’s lives — this could be the role for you.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will… Design and develop scalable, cloud-native backend services deployed on AWS, using technologies like EKS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and ECR. Build and maintain containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments via Kubernetes. Collaborate with frontend teams to implement secure and efficient REST APIs for backend services. Write and optimize production-level code in Node.js and TypeScript, with a focus on performance, security, and maintainability. Architect event-driven and microservices-based solutions aligned with product and business needs. Improve backend system performance, reliability, and fault tolerance through continuous monitoring and optimization. Lead backend design and development practices within Agile development teams. Collaborate with a Global team in both the US and Korea.Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseIn this role, you’ll need …Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of backend development experience with a strong focus on cloud-based and distributed systems.Expertise with AWS services including EKS, EC2, ECR, ELB, VPC, RDS, S3, and CloudFront.Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration in a microservices environment.Solid grasp of CI/CD practices and experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Ansible.Proven experience building scalable APIs and backend systems using modern cloud technologies.Strong knowledge of database management, performance tuning, and cloud-native storage.Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and work collaboratively in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.Ability to communicate in English with effective interpersonal, spoken, and written communication skills.Professional certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or related DevOps fields is preferred.Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages is a plus.Experience with HIPAA and GDPR regulations through robust security measures is a plus.Background in health tech or healthcare, with knowledge of industry-specific challenges and regulations is a plus.Applicant Privacy PolicyReview our Applicant Privacy Policyfor additional information.Equal Opportunity StatementAlign Technology is an equal opportunity employer.
