As an infrastructure team, you will build and expand the service frameworks to make complex systems easy to use, resilient, and scalable. We build powerful interfaces for engineers that depend on these systems—deployment, load balancers, web framework, databases, Kafka and Kubernetes—while keeping them highly available and performant. We’re looking for engineering leaders who can drive the technical vision of Stripe’s service infrastructure platform for thousands of engineers to use and build on top of, and thrive in a highly autonomous environment with many moving pieces.What you’ll doWe’re looking for Software Engineers who are interested in building software services and platforms that impact thousands of employees and millions of Stripe users, regardless of whether they’re an end user, developer, or partner. You will work on projects that span technologies, systems, and processes where you will design, build, test, and ship great code every day. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum Requirements2-8 years of industry software engineering experience (does not include internships or co-ops)Ability to write well-factored algorithms and have experience with commonly used data structures and algorithmsHands-on experience contributing to or building large scale distributed systemsStrong coding skills in any programming language (we understand new languages can be learned on the job so our interview process is language agnostic)Strong collaboration skills, can work across workstreams within your team and contribute to your peers’ successHave the ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy, responsibility, and think of yourself as entrepreneurialInterest in working as a generalist across varying technologies and stacks to solve problems and delight both internal and external usersPreferred QualificationsExperience optimizing the end to end performance of distributed systemsFocuses on the needs of our users, both internal and externalHold yourself and others to a high bar when working with productionIn-office expectationsOffice-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.Pay and benefitsThe annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €83,200 - €124,800. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
