321 213 2121An academic advisor is a faculty or staff member that offers support to students such as suggesting majors or courses, acting as an advocate for students, and advising students on academic goals and career development.Academic advisors often work individually with students but may also serve on a team, such as an academic advising center. Often, advisors serve as members of a student’s faculty advisory committee.There are different types of academic advisors:1. Faculty advisors are professors that help students select courses2. Staff advisors are staff members that offer support to students, such as suggesting majors or coursesJob Brief:We're looking for an Academic Advisor who can help us choose the right classes, make a degree plan, and understand university policies.Academic Advisor Duties:Advise students on academic matters, including academic standing, graduation requirements, and graduation requirementsProvide academic counselingProvide career counselingWork with faculty in the department to assist in the development of academic programmingProvide support and assistance in all of the student services officesEvaluate students’ progress toward graduationProvide information and counseling on academic problemsAcademic Advisor Responsibilities:Train, guide, and advise students on academic planning, including curriculum, graduation requirements, and career opportunitiesAttend, lead, and participate in campus and department activities, including college, department, and student organization meetingsProvide students with information and support on academic issues and campus resources, including career, educational, and financial aid informationAssist students with identifying and pursuing personal, educational, and career goalsConduct career assessments, perform career counseling, and refer students to resources as appropriateRequirements And Skills:Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field3+ years of proven experience in advising college/university studentsKnowledge of college/university admissions requirementsAbility to understand and communicate to students and their parents about financial aid optionsAbility to counsel students with personal, career and academic issues[Company Name] is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
