The University of New Hampshire Library is seeking a Special Collections and Archives Public Services Coordinator (Library Services Coordinator, Operating Staff, Grade 14) to join our team. The incumbent will coordinate and schedule reference and outreach activities, create social media content, provide online support and coordinate staffing for onsite and virtual reference delivery.With a high level of independence and autonomy yet also collaboratively through the Library’s team-based structure (the incumbent is a member of Archival Processing and Access and Communication and Outreach programs), this role plans, prioritizes, and implements public services to further SCA’s and the Library’s established strategic initiatives, goals, and priorities.Duties/Responsibilities80%With direction from the Archival Processing and Access program leads and colleagues, coordinate and provide reference services for Special Collections and Archives (SCA), including service desk coverage, and complex reference service (both onsite and virtual) requiring knowledge of Special Collections and Archives holdings.Explain appropriate use of SCA resources, including access restrictions and various reformatting options, including coordination with third party vendors for small digitization requests.Instruct patrons in the use of collection guides, research databases and sources in multiple formats including proper handling of rare and fragile materials. Assist with SCA tabling events across campus.Monitor security, equipment, organization, and maintenance of SCA Reading Room, the Stark Room, and the SCA classroom.Provide support and guidance to student employees and guest curators/adjunct help as needed.Schedule and facilitate Special Collections and Archives Reading Room appointments and events and provide classroom instructional support with faculty.Collect and maintain SCA reference statistics.Coordinate any ILL requests from SCA.15%With direction from Communication and Outreach program lead and colleagues, generate and coordinate content about SCA reference, outreach, exhibits, and instruction services through various channels including the Library’s web pages and social media platforms.Contribute to library social media and other promotional activities as needed.Review current and newly added holdings for potential use in promoting SCA’s research collections and services.Maintain close ties with UNH Communications and Public Affairs, Alumni Affairs and other campus offices to facilitate use of SCA materials and expertise, promote collections, services, and instruction efforts to variety of constituencies including USNH, UNH offices, academic departments, programs and the general public.Schedule and coordinate SCA programming (exhibits and events) in library spaces throughout the year.Demonstrate resources, provide tours, and give presentations on occasion.5%The duties above are not intended to be all inclusive.There will be other duties that contribute to the success of Library and university related initiatives.Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain, improve and share knowledge, skills and abilities.Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience: Associate’s degree and three years of related work experience, or any combination of higher education and related work experience equal to five years.
