This role involves a blend of proactive maintenance, reactive troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to ensure business-critical applications and data systems function optimally.Key Responsibilities:Database Maintenance and Monitoring:Perform routine maintenance tasks including index rebuilds/reorganizations, statistics updates, and integrity checks.Monitor database performance metrics (CPU, memory, disk I/O, query execution times) and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.Implement and manage SQL Server Agent jobs for automated tasks and alerts.Backup and Recovery:Design, implement, and test robust backup and recovery strategies to meet defined Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).Perform database restores and disaster recovery drills as needed.Performance Tuning and Optimization:Analyze and optimize slow-running queries, stored procedures, and database schema.Provide guidance to developers on efficient SQL coding practices.Utilize performance monitoring tools and DMVs to diagnose and resolve performance issues.High Availability and Disaster Recovery:Administer and maintain high-availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, or replication.Ensure the operational readiness of disaster recovery plans.Security and Compliance:Manage database security, including user accounts, roles, and permissions.Implement and enforce security policies and best practices.Conduct security audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.Troubleshooting and Incident Management:Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventative measures.Patching and Upgrades:Plan and execute SQL Server patching and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.Documentation and Automation:Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Develop and implement scripts to automate routine DBA tasks.Collaboration:Work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other IT personnel to support application needs and troubleshoot issues.Expertise You'll Bring:Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server administration (installation, configuration, maintenance).Strong understanding of SQL and database concepts.Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques.Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and tools.Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.Understanding of database security principles and best practices.Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation.Benefits:Competitive salary and benefits packageCulture focused on talent development with quarterly promotion cycles and company-sponsored higher education and certificationsOpportunity to work with cutting-edge technologiesEmployee engagement initiatives such as project parties, flexible work hours, and Long Service awardsAnnual health check-upsInsurance coverage: group term life, personal accident, and Mediclaim hospitalization for self, spouse, two children, and parentsValues-Driven, People-Centric & Inclusive Work Environment:Persistent Ltd. is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
