Sr. Category Manager - Capital Equipment

Department: OperationsLocation: EMEA-Switzerland-HQDescriptionThis position is ideal for an experienced engineer to join the Strategic Sourcing and Category Management team as a Sr. Sourcing Manager – Capital Equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for collaborating with our Operations, Quality, and R&D departments to support the sourcing of equipment and technical operations. You would support the Engineering strategy, help identify and support the qualification of secondary sources and manage sourcing events. This position is based fully onsite; office presence in Rotkreuz is mandatory 5 days per week.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport sourcing activities for capital equipment and related categories, contributing to supplier evaluations and selection processes.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical requirements and align sourcing strategies with operational needs.Assist in preparing and reviewing supplier contracts, proposals, and cost models at the direction of the engineering team.Provide input on supplier performance, risk assessments, and improvement opportunities based on engineering and operational insights.Participate in sourcing strategy discussions and help implement initiatives that drive cost savings, quality improvements, and lead-time reductions.Leverage prior engineering experience to assess equipment reliability and inform sourcing recommendations.Coordinate with global sourcing and category management teams to ensure alignment with broader procurement goals.Contribute to documentation and reporting for sourcing projects, including status updates and issue tracking.Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseBachelor's degree or equivalent experience6-10 years of relevant technical experienceExperience with sourcingAn understanding of supply chain and optimizationEffective communication and data interpretation skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentComfort and experience in developing and defining process, versus following processTo be a self-starter and independent thinkerExperience with cross-functional teamsEffective project and time management skillsExperience in the Medical Devices or Technology industry a plusApplicant Privacy PolicyReview our Applicant Privacy Policyfor additional information.Equal Opportunity StatementAlign Technology is an equal opportunity employer.
