Sr Engineering Manager

DescriptionThe Salesforce Digital Enterprise Technology Applications team organization is looking for an enthusiastic engineering manager to lead our application development teams that support our Professional Services organizations.This people and technology leadership role will manage and lead a team of software engineers with a concerted focus on nurturing our Ohana culture. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of increasing responsibility and have demonstrated success in building and leading technical teams, and in defining, implementing, and influencing engineering strategy and excellence. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills who will work with teams of highly motivated software engineers and provide guidance through their career progression. We use Agile/Scrum methodologies, so experience working in that environment is a big plus.This job requires that you be a self-starter with the ability to deliver on time with quality and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You must have good oral and written documentation skills and be able to interact with other team members to deliver fast with quality. You will also be asked to contribute ideas and provide feedback on many projects within the team's portfolio.Required Qualifications12+ years software development experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects, with at least 5 years of management experience5+ years experience in Salesforce Platform, Java, HTML/Javascript/CSS, Mulesoft, Relational Database.Strong technical background in object-oriented programming and web application developmentSignificant experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependenciesProven passion around personal and professional development of direct reportsStrong verbal and written communication skills, impeccable organizational and time management skillsPassionate about innovation and creativityExpertise in Agile development and methodologiesBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience requiredYour ResponsibilitiesHire, develop, and cultivate amazing peopleLead a team of application developers and quality engineers through project initiation, execution and deployment.Work closely with each direct staff member to assess and improve their skills and partner with them on defining their career paths.Influence technology direction and architecture across an integrated functional areaInnovate and optimize engineering processes and standardsLead operational excellence and improve development team processes and metrics that influence productivity, efficiency, and quality of the scrum teamDaily management of objectives, priorities, trade offs, risk and performance management of all reporting staff (employee and contingent workers)Assign areas of ownership; ensure engineers have clear priorities and adequate resourcesLead and participate in technology discussions and planning with product management, internal business partners and other Biz Tech delivery partners.Communicate status, risks to schedules and offer mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery of all committed projects across the delivery teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience with code reusability, scalable solutions, and design patterns.Experience with Agile software development and test-driven development.Ability to lead projects and mentor developers in best practices.Experience troubleshooting full-service stack, end-to-end ownership.Led teams working on customer-facing applications with high traffic volume.Ability to present designs to internal/external groups and review designs of others.Good knowledge of automation testing frameworks.Experience working in and around the software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service architectures and/or industryDesired Skills / ExperienceForce.com development/implementation experienceCertifications in Salesforce Admin, Salesforce Developer, and/or Agentforce.Scrum Master CertificationMaster's degree or equivalent work experience
