We are building next-generation Drones and Robots to help reach our Moonshot: cut gun-related deaths between police and the public by 50% in 10 years.As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer II, Robotics, you’ll be able to contribute to advance Axon’s mission to Protect Life, by leading the design and development of advanced, Mission-Critical Drones, Rovers and Robots that will be used in the most challenging scenarios by elite tactical teams in law enforcement and military special operations.You will be able to shape Axon’s future products, and to succeed in the role you’ll need solid experience in Mechanical engineering and DFMA, with a focus on lightweight yet weather- and abuse-proof design. Work environment includes the use of tools such as PTC Creo (formerly Pro/E) and Autodesk Inventor.What You’ll DoThe PositionWork Location: This role is based out of our Brussels office and follows an onsite schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Mondays through Fridays. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.Reports to: Director of EngineeringWhat You’ll DoDesign, engineer and test high-performing Mechatronics products such as Drones, Rovers and other kinds of RobotsWork with CAD tools such as PTC CREO Parametric (Pro/E) to design and engineer mobile electromechanical productsBe a force of proposal for achieving high performing thermal, weight and space constrained designsOwn the entire product lifecycle of the mechanical design, from ideation to mass productionBe hands-on and follow fast iteration cycles with rapid prototyping technologyEnsure High Quality during the entire product lifecycle, maintaining up-to-date drawing, manufacturing documentation and proceduresCollaborate with distributed Electronics, Manufacturing and Compliance teamsBe a Team Player, Mentor, Strong Communicator and be ready and willing to support the Team when neededWhat You’ll BringBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalentMinimum 10+ years of product design/engineering experience in high-end consumer and/or enterprise productsProficiency with PTC Creo (formerly Pro/E) or similar MCAD softwareStrong knowledge in the design of plastic injection molded, stamped metal, die-cast, and machined partsExperience designing for IP (ingress protection) of water and dust, shock resistanceExperience with plastic resins and their characteristics (PC, ABS, PA, etc.) and their fillersStrong experience with electro-mechanical integrationStrong DFMA skills, with emphasis on part/assembly tolerance management, to ensure repeatable designs for high-volume manufacturingExperience preserving Industrial Design artistic intent in mechanical design implementationAbility to balance and prioritize conflicting design constraints through analysis, testing, and creativityAny Of The Following Is a Considered a PlusExperience with propulsion systems design (propellers, drivetrains, ducts, gearboxes) and aerodynamicsExperience with drones, rovers and other lightweight electromechanical systemsFirst hand experience with simulation FEA software and/or CFDBenefits That Benefit YouCompetitive Base Salary30 Vacation Days per YearAnnual Bonus EligibilityRestricted Stock Unit EligibilityPrivate Health InsuranceWellbeing PlatformOf course, we have free snacks in our officesBenefits listed herein may vary depending on the nature of your employment and the location where you work.Don’t meet every single requirement?
