Stabbert is currently looking for a AB to join our fleet. Position SummaryThe Able Seaman (AB) is a vital member of the ship's deck crew, responsible for assisting with navigation, cargo operations, maintenance, and safety procedures.
The AB supports the navigation team, handles lines and mooring operations, and ensures the overall safety and cleanliness of the vessel. This role reports to the Chief Mate. Essential FunctionsCarry out deck maintenance under the direction of the Chief Mate. Have a working knowledge of deck maintenance, surface prep, and paint. Assist with launch/retrieval of science equipment. Safely and successfully operate the ship tender. Perform monthly safety inspections. Stand watch in bridge with officers. Handle lines, anchors and other deck machinery. RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to analyze problems via communication while a vessel is at sea or in a remote location. Good communication and interpersonal skills; capable of maintaining strong relationships both with the team and customers. Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must be well-organized, detail and customer-oriented (internal and external), self-starter, self-motivated, prioritize duties, and follow through with tasks to completion as necessary. Working knowledge in MS Office and Adobe DC.
