With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:As a Staff Data Engineer, you'll work on innovative B2B(2C) enterprise applications in the transportation and asset space, empowering organisations to make smarter, data-driven decisions leveraging our Arcadis Digital Products. Our solutions leverage advanced analytics and real-time insights to optimise operations, improve efficiency, and enhance complex ecosystems.You will be the technical authority for how the B2B Digital Product team leverages the internal Arcadis Microsoft Fabric platform to deliver reliable, scalable, and performant data solutions. This role bridges product requirements, advanced data engineering, and enterprise platform architecture, ensuring our solutions meet both business outcomes and the SLA commitments to our global customers. The role will partner closely with the central data platform team (responsible for Fabric capacity and infrastructure) and global technology teams to align on architecture, networking, and platform strategy.We are committed to leading the way in creating an innovative and sustainable future. Each day, we collaborate with purpose, driven by a commitment to building user-focused solutions that empower cities and communities to thrive.Role accountabilities:Shape the Microsoft Fabric technical architecture for the digital department, guiding design decisions, implementation approaches, and integration with OneLake in line with platform standards.Design and develop the technical blueprint for data ingestion, transformation, modelling, and consumption, ensuring scalability, performance, governance, and cost efficiency.Own the workspace strategy for B2B digital products, covering structure, access control, lifecycle management, and compliance with security and regulatory policies.Enable the creation of innovative data and AI-driven products by building reusable patterns, best practices, and technical capabilities that allow high-value datasets and ML-ready features to be consistently packaged, governed, and delivered.Collaborate across global tech and governance teams to align networking, metadata, lineage, and platform integrations with enterprise architecture standards.Define and monitor platform KPIs, contributing to incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous optimisation of capacity and costs.Collaborate closely with the Data Director promoting technical innovation and mentorship by cultivating a culture that encourages experimentation, prototyping, and the responsible integration of new Fabric and AI features, to speed up delivery and open up future opportunities.Qualifications & Experience:10+ years of experience in data engineering and the modern data stack, ideally with hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and native Fabric workloads (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Real-Time Analytics, Dataflows).Strong SQL and Python skills, data modelling expertise, and experience in designing scalable data pipelines and reusable data products. Proven ability to define workspace strategies, governance frameworks, and reusable solution patterns in enterprise environments.Solid understanding of distributed data systems, cloud architectures, and enterprise networking/security standards.Skilled at translating business and product requirements into technical designs and influencing platform roadmaps in federated tech environments.Experienced in delivering customer-facing data solutions with strict SLAs, and knowledgeable about monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes.Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across global teams and represent B2B product needs in enterprise forums.Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to communicate and collaborate effectively with international stakeholders.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
