In this role, you will lead the design and development of mission-critical backend services and infrastructure powering secure, scalable, and high-availability financial applicationsAs a technical leader, you will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure engineering excellence across projects. This is a hands-on role that requires deep expertise in backend systems, cloud-native development, and a strong understanding of the unique challenges in the fintech space; including data integrity, security, and compliance. You will be responsible for:Architect, design, and lead the development of high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring BootDefine and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural principlesLead the design and evolution of REST APIs, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and complianceDrive the adoption of modern infrastructure practices including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CDDesign and optimize event-driven architectures using Java Messaging systems like Solace, ActiveMQEnsure applications are cloud-native and leverage AWS servicesTake ownership of non-functional requirements such as performance, security, observability, and reliabilityCollaborate with product, DevOps, and other engineering teams to ship secure, compliant, and scalable fintech productsLead technical initiatives, spike investigations, and contribute to long-term tech roadmapMentor and coach engineers across the team; provide technical guidance and code reviewsTroubleshoot complex production issues, lead post-mortems, and continuously improve system resiliencyWhat We're Looking For:10+ years of experience in backend software development, with strong expertise in Java and Spring BootProven experience designing and delivering microservices architectures and distributed systemsDeep understanding of REST API design, OpenAPI (Swagger), and API security (OAuth2, JWT)Experience with Docker and containerized development workflowsHands-on experience deploying and scaling applications on AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, etc.)Strong knowledge of Java Messaging systems such as Solace, ActiveMQTrack record of leading large-scale projects and cross-functional technical effortsDeep understanding of security, compliance, and data integrity requirements in fintech applicationsComfortable with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring toolsExperience with Kubernetes, especially in production environments via EKS / OpenShiftExcellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skillsStrong leadership and mentoring capabilitiesStrategic mindset with ability to balance long-term vision with short-term deliverablesExcellent communication and collaboration skillsHigh degree of ownership, accountability, and initiativeAbility to influence technical direction and advocate for scalable, secure design choicesNice-to-Haves:Knowledge of financial systems, such as transaction processing, account ledgers, or payment gatewaysExperience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001Why Join Us?Be Part of a Bold Vision – At audax, we’re not just building software – we’re transforming how financial institutions and businesses manage risk, compliance, and growth.
