Job Description

Job Duties And Other InformationPlease click HERE to apply. Assists with surveillance activities to detect cases and identify trends for the Bureau of Infectious Disease (BID). Supports Regional Epidemiologist on all epidemiologic activities conducted in assigned region. Completes disease case reports in assigned regions. Monitors parish health units and hospitals conducting surveillance activities via electronic reporting within assigned regions. Analyzes and interprets infectious disease surveillance data for trends and clusters. Conducts data entry in current surveillance systems, including REDCap, the statewide Infectious Disease Reporting Information System (IDRIS), and any other databases used.

Coordinates with physicians and health care providers to enhance disease surveillance. Prepares and maintains confidential case records, collects, documents and verifies pertinent medical data from patients, physicians, and medical facilities. Participates in conducting infectious disease outbreak investigation. . Conducts interviews of persons diagnosed or suspected of having a reportable infectious disease. Serves as a resource to the general public and health care community by responding to routine requests for general disease information and provision of statistics. Provides and disseminates health education to communities-at-risk regarding infectious disease prevention and transmission. Other tasks as assigned. QualificationsREQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree, or Associates degree with 3 years professional experience, or 6 years professional experience in lieu of the degree. Excellent analytical skills, effective organizational and time management skills. Great attention to detail and follow up. Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel. DesiredAdvanced degree. Minimum 1 year professional experience in disease intervention and prevention activities. Minimum 1 year professional experience with data analysis, data abstractions, or case reports/review. Minimum 1 year professional experience with federal, state and OPH agency policies. Relevant industry certifications.
