About This JobThe Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare. We're looking for a skilled Environmental Scientist with a degree in toxicology to assist with remediation efforts in our division.

This opportunity is unique in that it combines fieldwork and office expertise to make a real impact on restoring contaminated sites, safeguarding groundwater and soil, and promoting environmental health in the communities we serve.

Job Duties and Other Informationemployee's work is performed in accordance with Departmental policies, regulations, and applicable state and federal laws. The employee must also understand and apply Louisiana's Risk Evaluation and Corrective Action Program (RECAP). The incumbent serves as team leader on remediation projects within the Remediation DivisionPerforms comprehensive reviews of site investigation work plans and reports, corrective action work plans and reports, monitoring work plans and reports, to name a few, to ensure that all documents are addressed appropriately and in accordance with RECAP (Risk Evaluation Corrective Action Program) and other applicable regulations.

Perform site inspections to oversee remedial activities conducted on sites, as well as perform semi-annual and annual inspections to assess compliance and progress. Represent the Department at meetings with the regulated community, effectively communicating technical and regulatory information. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of permanent classified employee.
