Job Duties And Other InformationJob Duties: Assumes responsibility, on an assigned shift, for the operation and routine maintenance of engine room and machinery aboard an "inspected" marine vessel (such as main propulsion diesel engines, main electrical generating plants, hydraulic systems, sanitation systems, pumping systems, electrical and lighting systems.

)Develop, implement, and manage the overall preventive maintenance program for ferry operations 'marine vessels, which may include scheduling work of lower-level engineers, oilers, and night shift personnel, inspection of work quality, and completion of assigned tasks. Coordinate with maintenance personnel and marine engineers at all other locations to troubleshoot, coordinate needed repairs and ensure consistent maintenance practices are followed. Maintains required engineering logs and records and makes reports. Incumbent has responsibility for safe refueling operations, maintaining an adequate supply of cleaning materials, spare parts, forms, etc.

Assists Shipyard Inspector and/or Project Engineer with planning, coordination, and QA/QC inspection of all scheduled and unscheduled shipyard work. Incumbent will serve as the point of contact for and work with outside agencies to administer USCG required programs.
