About This JobThe Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in LouisianaDivision: Within the Nursing Department at ELMHS Located in Jackson, LAELMHS is looking for a driven and detail oriented individual to join the Nursing Department as an RN-Manager.

Minimum QualificationsPossession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following: Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; ORA bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; ORA master's degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; ORA doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties: Job Duties and Other InformationIn This Role, You Will: Plan, manage and direct total nursing services of a multi-service patient area on a 24 hour basis and coordinate patient and nursing activities with other departments and disciplines. Provide direct administrative supervision, support and consultation to RN Supervisors on two teams and indirect supervision, support, consultation and counseling for lower nursing subordinates on assigned teams.

Make regular and frequent nursing/supervisory rounds, monitor treatment performance/patient care and record documentation to assure compliance with defined standards. Provide input into professional and non-professional staffing requirements for assigned units; have line authority and supervisory responsibility for all nursing functions (multi-ward and multi-teams) including staff/scheduling of nursing resources, approval of leave requests, monitoring staffing assignments for assigned teams to assure adequate and safe nursing coverage. Serve as a professional role model for peers/subordinates.

Serve on nursing councils with responsibility for policy/procedure development; identification and resolution of ethical, legal and patient care issues; identification of performance improvement issues and assist with the development of action plans when so assigned. Assist in resolution of patient and employee complaints, aid in active resolution of conflicts and problem issues. Coordinate the development and implementation of unit performance improvement plans, participate in department performance improvement plans.

Interpret standards of care and policies/procedures defined by Nursing Department, ELMHS, LDH, OBH, and Civil Service to subordinate, reviews and revise unit policies in accordance with Nursing and Hospital policies and procedures, accreditation requirements and standards of practice; assure adherence to same, counsels with subordinates, provides documentation for policy/procedure violations. Develop performance plan with subordinates, monitor performance and work products, provide coaching and training as needed; assist employees with identifying educational needs and adjusts work schedules as neededAct as liaison with families, other facilities and law enforcement agencies concerning patient's admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Participate in System/Committee meetings as required and /or assigned by Nursing Administration. Review and submit requests to RN Director of Nursing A for approval of supplies/equipment to ensure proper expenditure of hospital resources and monitor use and care of same to provide ongoing fiscal accountability of assigned area. Maintain current and unencumbered motor vehicle license.
