The Office of Wildlife exists to provide wise stewardship of Louisiana's wildlife and associated habitats and increase wildlife conservation awareness. WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES TECHNICIAN A-C/ HABITAT STEWARDSHIP/ RAPIDESThis position is a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A-C Career Progression Group that receives direct supervision from a Technician Supervisor based in the Pineville field office.

Performs daily operations primarily on Alexander State Forest, Elbow Slough, Esler Field, and Sabine Wildlife Management Areas as well as other wildlife management areas or Pineville region projects as needed. JOB DUTIESJob Duties and Other InformationConstruction and maintenance of department buildings, grounds, roads, levees, equipment, camping areas, and water control structures.

Management activities including planting food plots, operating water control structures, conducting prescribed burns, marking property boundaries, and working managed hunts and bag checks. Maintains, and transports equipment such as airboats, boats with outboard motors, ATV/UTVs, tractors etc. Participates in lethal and nonlethal collection of wildlife species for management and research utilizing firearms. Transports injured or nuisance animals. Also performs any other duties necessary for the agency to accomplish its mission as directed by chain of command. POSITION- SPECIFIC DETAILS: This position will be domiciled in Rapides Parish. Appointment Type:

Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty. If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available. Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected. This position requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment, handle 50 pound sacks of fertilizer, work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and nights, and may be subject to 24-hour call. This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised as a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A, B, or C.
