Want to be part of a dynamic and unique organization that saves wildlife and wild places? The North Carolina Zoo is seeking a Digital Media Specialist to join our team. This position will provide digital media and communications analytical support for the North Carolina Zoo.
Position involves assessing data, planning, developing, and executing communication strategies that promote the Zoo and its programs to the public. The key focus of the Digital Strategist is assessing digital media analytics to make recommendations related to campaigns to increase audience exposure to the Zoo’s mission, raising the public perception of the brand, promoting the Zoo’s mission and marketing the Zoo experience. This position will be tasked with compiling and interpreting analytics, managing marketing placement, and maximizing the effectiveness of the Zoo’s digital marketing efforts.
The selected candidate must be a creative, strategic and analytical thinker that works well in a team environment, takes direction and manages projects with limited supervision. The position will work on the Communications team, developing new content online platforms to elevate the Zoo’s messaging. Position interacts directly with other Digital Media staff, Public Relations Officer, Director of Communications and Marketing, senior management, and staff throughout the park. Under general supervision, the employee is required to exercise reasonable initiative and independent judgment in performing work assignments.
Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToIdentify and execute strategies for optimizing digital media marketing to maximize traffic and engagement using creative marketing placement, analytics, research to reach identified target audiences. Must adhere to deadlines and budget restraints. Routinely capture and analyze the appropriate engagement data and metrics, insights and best practices, and use that information to advise future marketing strategy. Monitor online and marketing performance, network with other professionals and influencers in the field, and respond appropriately to requests in a timely manner.
Plan, submit and maintain area/regional/state digital and traditional calendars with up-to-date info on Zoo’s events, and collaborate with internal Zoo teams to cultivate and elevate mission-based activities or programs. Advises and assists with implementation and execution of communication team-related activities such as special events and media tours or drafting press releases, newsletters, blogs, media alerts, ad, social, and website copy, etc. Cross-trains to assist team with digital asset management (photos, videos, audio, etc. ) and support the creative team with miscellaneous production tasks including locating or compiling produced images and video footage as needed.
Position/Physical RequirementsMust meet DNCR Fleet Safety Guidelines and have ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment. This position is eligible for hybrid work, with some weekend and holiday work required. This position involves light work, including exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds or force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Successful candidates must be able to reach, stand, walk, push, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
