Description of WorkThe North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Revenue Distribution Analyst in the Distribution Unit of our Financial Services Division. The Division’s primary purpose is to support the Department of Revenue’s mission of funding public services benefiting the people of North Carolina, through the administration of tax laws and collection of taxes due in an impartial, consistent, secure, and efficient manner. The Distribution Unit is responsible for distributions and transfers of various tax revenues as directed by North Carolina General Statutes.
This unit is also responsible for the examination of financial activities of entities to determine tax liabilities and the accuracy of refund claims filed by governmental, non-profit and for-profit entities. The Revenue Distribution Analyst conducts examinations of the financial activities of governmental and non-profit entities to ensure the accuracy of tax returns filed and to determine if any tax liabilities are owed. This position will audit the western portion of North Carolina. The audits also determine if local sales and use tax is allocated to the correct local government.
These audits of refund requests by governmental units and non-profit organizations involve the interpretation and application of tax laws, accounting procedures, and investigative problems of substantial variety and complexity. Assessments will be given as part of the interview process. Requires occasional travel to headquarters in Raleigh for mandatory meetings.
