By ensuring sound decisions and efficient management, we strive to create sustainable, well-planned communities offering safe and affordable housing options.Whilst the Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) Directorate is part of DHUD, we are an independent Office with our own goals and mission – to deliver fair and equitable statutory valuations for all properties in the State. We are primarily staffed with specialist property valuers and support staff and are responsible and accountable for the State’s Land Valuation System and ensuring that the functions undertaken by the Service Provider, Land Services SA (LSSA), in performing statutory valuations across the State are compliant and effectively administered in accordance with the Valuation of Land Act 1971 and the Land Services Agreement. The OVG also supports government decision making through the provision of professional valuation advice and strategic services.For more information on the OVG or the role of the State’s Valuer-General, please visit www.valuergeneral.sa.gov.au .The RoleWorking closely with the Director, Coordination & Statutory Valuations and Statutory team, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Valuer to deliver a range of valuation functions to support the statutory, strategic and operational obligations of the Valuer-General. This involves providing specialist advice including undertaking analysis, reviews and approval of valuation reports and recommendations to ensure timely and effective grievance processes are delivered to the community. For more detail on our teams and what they do, refer page 20-22 of the Year in Review 2024 - https://www.valuergeneral.sa.gov.au/News-and-Publications/year-in-review .About YouOVG is seeking to recruit a dynamic team player with specialist valuation experience, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for the property industry.To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following areas:Detailed knowledge of valuation principles, practices and methodologies, relevant government policies and procedures and associated valuation expertise in statutory valuations.Demonstrated comprehensive experience undertaking valuations of residential, commercial and industrial, urban and rural land for statutory and other purposes.Experience in engaging, communicating, liaising and working with clients and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia.Essential Qualifications And LicencesTo be eligible you must:Be qualified as a Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 1994 and Land Valuers Regulations 2024; Be eligible for or have a current Associate or Fellow level Membership of the Australian Property Institute as a Certified Practising Valuer (CPV).Have practised as a land valuer (whether in the service of the Government or privately) for a period (whether continuous or aggregate) of at least 3 years; andHave a current Driver’s Licence.Special ConditionsSuccessful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment.
