Chattanooga FC does this through its premier MLS NextPro Men’s team, UPSL Women’s teams, MLS NEXT professional youth team, youth training programs of the Chattanooga FC Camps, the select teams of Chattanooga FC Academy, the CFL adult leagues, and through the Chattanooga FC Foundation and its charitable programs - CSM and Operation Get Active.Position SummaryThe Strength & Conditioning Coach at Chattanooga FC is responsible for enhancing & supporting player fitness, health, safety, & performance in the weight room & on the field while complying with all MLS Next Pro & MLS Next league policies & protocols.This role utilizes evidence-based best practices & data tracking to maximize performance across Chattanooga FC’s MLS Next Pro & MLS Next professional academy teams and is responsible for physical testing, program design and implementation, providing nutritional guidance, and delivery of sport science support.This position plays a critical role in fulfilling the Chattanooga FC’s purpose to build community through the world’s game. You will be expected and empowered to facilitate the success of CFC football initiatives and events, advancing the sport and creating memorable experiences for players and fans alike.Essential FunctionsSuccess in this role requires a self-starter who is innovative, driven, solution-oriented with the ability to work independentlyWorking under the supervision of the Director of Sport Performance, the Strength & Conditioning Coach will:Design & implement individualized strength & conditioning programs based on testing data, macro & micro cycles, & in-season training periodization & game density.Lead all team & individual strength & conditioning sessions for CFC’s MLS Next Pro & MLS Next professional academy, in alignment with the Club’s strength development curriculum.Manage all aspects of the weight room including equipment set-up & breakdown, maintenance, & cleaningAssist in the implementation of non-rostered training sessions & lead all aspects of performanceAssist in conducting on-field performance coaching, including position-specific speed, agility, & movement skills, & return-to-play training protocols as neededCollaborate with the Director of Performance to refine & execute a thorough testing battery to monitor changes in player strength, power & fitness development that demonstrates player progress & areas for improvement.Collaborate with the Performance & Medical team in the designing & administration of individualized pre-training activation protocolsImplementing training session specific preparation & activation in alignment with CFC’s training methodologyCollaborate with Director of Performance to implement & monitor CFC’s team training periodization in alignment with the Club’s methodologyAssist with data collection, upload/download, cleaning, & analysis as neededPerform activation & regeneration sessions as neededManage, design, & implement weight room physical testing protocolsCollaborate with performance & medical staff to evaluate player performance through performance testing, workload monitoring, & other team-specific metricsUtilize team-specific collected performance data to develop strategies to improve performance, training, recovery, & injury preventionDesign, modify & apply assessment protocols & methods to analyze the demands of the sport & the capabilities of CFC athletesMaintain accurate records of performance metrics, training loads, & recovery dataSupport the development of a data-driven approach to athlete management & performance enhancementStay informed of the latest research in Strength & Conditioning & related fields and participate in continued education.Assist with other duties needed to help drive the CFC Purpose, fulfill our Mission, foster our VisionKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBachelor’s degree from an accredited College/ University in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or related field or National Federation’s equivalent requiredMaster’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength &Conditioning, or related field preferredMinimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role requiredExperience with an elite/professional sports team, or MLS Academy preferredPrevious experience with a multi-disciplinary sports performance & sports science department preferredProficient soccer skillset with playing experience at the collegiate level or higher desirableExperience utilizing sports science technologies, such as Catapult GPS, Valid Performance, Kitman labs etc.Proficient on computer with software such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, AMSExcellent collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills for team information sharingAbility to translate data information and communicate effectively in English - both verbal & writtenAbility to analyze situations, identify challenges, and develop innovative solutionsSkilled in managing sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrityAbility to foster strong relationships and build trust with othersCapability to represent the Club with professionalism, respect, and accountabilityCapacity to adapt to changing priorities and challengesCommitment to continuous learning and skill developmentLicensing and CertificationsCertified Strength &Conditioning certification (CSCS) by the NSCA (or equivalent internationally recognized Strength & Conditioning certification)Certified Performance & Sports Scientist (CPSS) certification (preferred)CPR / First Aid Certification for children and adults (or the ability to obtain within 60 days of start)Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and passportAdditional RequirementsMust have or be willing to complete SafeSport training within seven (7) days of startMaintain legally required employment eligibilityPhysical RequirementsBilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred but not requiredHeavy - lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds frequently. Bending, stretching, and reachingrequires. Some sitting and climbing, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended time.Physical Environment: This position is routinely exposed to external elements which include heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and extreme weather conditions.
