Our culture is built on ownership, relationships, and excellence—values that drive our work and our impact on the communities we serve.Work Environment: Hybrid (three days in-office)Locations: Berwyn, Lancaster, Lehigh Valley, Mechanicsburg, State College, Williamsport, or Pittsburgh, PA; Akron/Canton, OH; or Morgantown, WVPosition Summary / What You’ll DoAs Structural Lead, you will set the technical direction, ensure quality and efficiency, and manage staffing for structural engineering projects. You’ll represent RETTEW with clients and agencies, foster innovation in methods and tools, and play a key role in business development.Responsibilities / Day-to-Day Define direction and priorities for structural engineering practice, including technical standards and best practices. Oversee structural portfolios (bridges, culverts, retaining walls, structural features) for quality, profitability, and client satisfaction. Serve as final technical reviewer on structural deliverables to ensure compliance with codes and constructability. Lead business development efforts: identify opportunities, scope projects, and prepare technical proposals. Manage staffing and workload; hire, train, and mentor structural engineers and designers. Liaise with other practice leads to ensure multidisciplinary project success. Track budgets, forecast needs, and maintain efficiency in tools, staffing, and workflows. Promote innovation by integrating new materials, software, and methodologies.QualificationsRequired: Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred. 15–20 years of structural engineering experience in transportation or infrastructure projects. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Expertise in design and analysis of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and structural systems. Strong leadership, staff development, and client relationship skills. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.Preferred: SE license or advanced structural credentials.
