It serves as liaison between the department and other University units relating to student services and other departmental activities. Overall duties include representing the department’s graduate and undergraduate programs to various stake holders. The responsibility for the graduate program includes recruiting students, both domestic and international, managing their admission, enrollment, orientation, completion of degree requirements, and serving as a student liaison. This position supports the graduate and undergraduate coordinators in the department, along with the key personnel in the CAES and the graduate school. Selects student ambassadors and supervises them in connection with outreach activities. It works with student Food Science club, industry employers, and other external clients in connection with student career placement, internship, and other academic endeavors.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or CompetenciesExcellent computer skills including student systems, Adobe Experience Manager, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.Extensive knowledge of the requirements of both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.Organizational skills, self-motivated, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Strong interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills as well as a positive, collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.Experience in advising students and student organizations.Thorough knowledge of UGA academic policies and procedures.Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage multiple competing projects in an organized, efficient manner by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.Physical DemandsTypical office duties including sitting at a desk with computer for extended periods. Please visit the UGA Background Check website.Duties/ResponsibilitiesDuties/ResponsibilitiesGraduate Program CoordinationCreate and update departmental graduate program and procedures manualProvide support to the graduate coordinator as the graduate coordinator assistant, manage communication of policies to faculty and students, advise faculty and students via phone or drop in during regular office hours, distribution of graduate student opportunities, etc.Coordinate comprehensive examinations and oral defenses, MS theses defenses and PhD defenses.
