RequirementsNational N2 Certificate or higher with suitable mechanical background Relevant valid Artisan Trade Certificate (Section 13 or Section 26D) with proof of formal learnership programme Mechanical Foreman’s Certificate of Competence or the ability to obtain a foreman certificate within 12 to 24 months whichever is relevant At least 3- 5 years mining experience (underground)Medically fit to work in the specific business area. Clear security screening record. Valid driver’s license (if applicable). Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative duties Check Shift Communication Log book for any problems reported and special instructions that need to be addressed Determine material allocations based on the BOM Verify statutory and daily examinations records Takes responsibility for project controls, cost estimates, quantity take-offs and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders. Analyse reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work. Coordinate day-to-day mechanical activities and monitor plant performance. Write daily and weekly reports and investigate operations within area of control. Attend meetings and communicate with teams on a continuous basis. Control and distribute stock within area of responsibility. Equipment maintenance and Optimization Have input in scheduling planned maintenance of equipment Decide on relevant type of maintenance to be performed Oversee maintenance process and providing support and coaching to subordinates Conduct random inspections on tasks performed by subordinates) Oversee that breakdowns are repaired Task Analysis Conduct Task Analyses and take appropriate action to address identified risks Plans, executes and supervises all day-to-day processes and maintenance activities within area of responsibility Risk Assessments Conduct baseline risk assessments and take appropriate action Conduct issue-based risk assessments and take appropriate action Conduct an investigation into workplace incidents Conduct a preliminary investigation into workplace incidents and accidentsStakeholder Relations Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers. Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable. Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes. Financial Management Working Cost Budgets: Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives. Approving operational expenditure. Formulating monthly and annual budgets. Report on variances from the budget and the reasons for those variances Cost Savings: Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations. Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. SHE Compliance Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Provide SHE leadership within the unit in line with Unit objectives Monitor compliance to SHE requirements in the work environment Carries accountability and responsibility for ensuring the safe achievement of targets Develops and installs pro-active approach to all safety issues in the working place Quality Management System (QMS): Approve department’s documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System. Manage documentation and records within the Quality Management System (QMS) Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Quality Management System Maintain and update existing policies and procedures Apply and continuously improve policies and procedures Conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System Comply with requirements of the Quality Management SystemFocus on safe production & operational excellence Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence Improve our position on global industry cost curve People Management Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. Manage performance and development of reporting staff. Ensure fair work allocation for team members. Inspire team members towards high performance.Additional RequirementsMinimum of 1 to 2 years’ relevant experience in the field of the applied position will be advantageous
