Supplier Development Engineer

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer (Part Development) for Mining Assembly Centre in Hinjewadi, Pune.The roleThe person in this position will–Manage sourcing of new suppliers to support any defined sourcing projects (NPI,NPD, export, etc.)Responsible in implementing local category strategies across Sourcing DepartmentResponsible for part development at identified suppliers as per the development planEnsure the execution of the Advance Quality Planning and its completion in due time and follow up the performance of the supplierResponsible for continuous improvements on supplier quality control and manufacturing capabilities on proto development and for regular productionResponsible for achieving performance targets set by Sourcing Manager by leveraging total cost of ownership levers, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the organization, and cooperating with all key stakeholders within department, PA’sAreas of responsibility: - Responsible for adherence to internal and external policies, regulations and lawsResponsible for suppliers’ compliance on Sandvik policies and guidelines including EHS, Supplier Code of Conduct etc.Support Development and implement of local category strategies, including priorities, targets and action plansBuild up and maintain strategic and long-term cooperation relationship with key suppliersDevelop suppliers that are not familiar and/or do not demonstrate effective utilization of recognized industry quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, Gage R&R, etcAssess suppliers according to Supplier Quality core processesManage the process qualification (process audit) with site SQE–when in development phaseLead the development and production process for measurement, checking and testing fixtures and gaugesTrain the suppliers and make sure that the defined standards are properly appliedDefine the control plansWork closely with R&D, PDC, Supplier Quality and Engineering on New Part Development, Project Transfers and Localization projectsPlay an active role in all projects to achieve design to cost targetsManage action plans with suppliers in case of deviations-in development phaseCost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.).Support Sourcing Engineer together with Clusters/Categories/Supplier KAM lead for supplier annual contract review and negotiation to minimize total cost of ownership and to meet set targets and KPIs (cost, quality and delivery)Ensure conformity, perceived quality and traceability of any project all along the product development phaseSecure supplier quality performance analysis, report and provide feedback on findings, and be actively involved in supplier performance evaluationManage progress plan with low-performance suppliers in collaboration with the Sourcing Manager and site SQE if site already involvedInitiate and validate corrective and preventive actions with the suppliers for immediate containment actionsConduct supplier assessments in accordance to the project/sourcing team strategyManage compliance with, and use of global and local contracts within region with regards to Supplier QualityGive recommendations and/or technical decisions to ensure a defect-free process through projectMonitor and review the Production Part Approval file before the transfer to site and hand over to the site SQEWork according to processes, leveraging systems and toolsEducation / ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering with 6-10 Years Experience preferably in the Construction equipment/manufacturing industry.
