This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role with a well-established, highly respected firm that's been delivering expert cadastral and property surveying services for over 24 years. You'll take the reins on project delivery, client engagement, and team management — overseeing everything from scoping and quoting to QA/QC and final plan registration. As the central point of contact for key clients and the driver of the technical discipline, your work will shape the success of projects across Sydney, the Illawarra, and beyond.In this role, you'll lead from the front, guiding surveyors and technicians, reviewing data and drawings, and ensuring every survey meets the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. With support from a close-knit leadership team, you'll have the autonomy to refine processes, mentor talent, and contribute to the strategic direction of the business. If you're a Registered Surveyor with a strong cadastral background, a knack for communication, and a desire to build something meaningful, this is your chance to take your career to the next level with JRK Surveys.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all surveying operations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cadastral and engineering survey projects.Oversee and mentor the survey team, providing technical support, training, and guidance across fieldwork and drafting.Handle client enquiries, scope projects, and prepare accurate quotations, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication throughout each project.Ensure quality assurance and control (QA/QC) across all survey data, plans, and documentation in line with NSW regulatory standards.Supervise work output, data processing, and drafting workflows, ensuring efficient and compliant delivery of all survey outputs.Manage survey equipment and resources, coordinating maintenance, calibration, and technology upgrades where needed.Provide technical advice and strategic input to management, contributing to process improvements and long-term business growth.This role requires moderate travel with weekly trips across Sydney, Illawarra, and other regions for survey work.Experience & QualificationsMust be a Registered Land Surveyor with BOSSI NSWA completed Degree in SurveyingMinimum of 15 years' experience surveying in AustraliaExtensive experience in cadastral/boundary surveys and residential property development in NSWA willingness to adopt technologies and contribute to improving efficiency of processesCompetent knowledge of AutoCAD/LandmarkExperience in the interpretation of engineering and construction plans and documentsAn understanding of the construction process and the ability to interpret architectural drawingsCompetent knowledge of modern surveying equipment and techniques, including 3D scanning and workflowsAbility to manage a significant workloadExcellent verbal and written communication skillsA good level of self-organisational skillsCurrent driver's licenceValid White CardBe able to adhere to the company's integrated Management System procedures and company policiesAustralian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this positionNotesTo apply, please use the form below or email ****@surveying.com.au, with your resume (max. 4 pages), and a brief cover letter (max. 1 page) outlining how you fit the requirements of the role.We are interested in hearing from individual applicants only, and kindly request that recruiters, agencies, and offshore firms refrain from applying.
