Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST) specializes in waste collection, transport, and storage, engineered sanitary landfill development, operation and maintenance, site rehabilitation and remediation, waste recycling and recovery, waste treatment and disposal, wastewater treatment, equipment supply and installation, waste reduction, pollution prevention and control, environmental monitoring assessment and evaluation and environmental consciousness training to provide avenues for total waste solutions.The Sustainability Programs Manager will be under the Trash to Cashback Program of BEST. He/She will be responsible for the following:Oversee the complete lifecycle of sustainability programs, from planning and budgeting to final execution and reporting, ensuring alignment with client expectations and contractual agreements.Serve as the primary senior point of contact for key clients and stakeholders. Foster robust relationships focused on long-term client retention, identifying opportunities for program enhancement, expansion, or upselling based on performance and evolving client needs.Responsible for actively sourcing and qualifying opportunities for additional clients and new corporate partnerships. Be directly accountable for achieving established program performance metrics and strategic growth targets (e.g., retrieval volumes, client satisfaction, revenue expansion).Develop and deliver compelling presentations to clients, providing strategic updates on program progress, performance metrics, financial summaries, and sustainability impact assessments.Work closely with the management, Operations/Logistics, Resources, and Systems teams to ensure seamless execution, effective resource allocation, and mutual goal alignment.Develop detailed program plans, timelines, and budgets. Maintain rigorous monitoring of adherence throughout the program lifecycle to prevent overspending.Conduct regular, detailed cost analysis and CBAs for all program activities. Proactively identify and recommend strategies for cost optimisation and efficiency to maximize profitability without compromising quality or impact.Track project fund utilization and oversee partner contracts. Collaborate with the Accounting team to ensure proper cost allocation, timely client payment processing, and accurate documentation (including oversight of the Request for Payment process).Directly oversee the performance and daily operations of the Corporate Sustainability Associates (CSA), Corporate Sustainability Specialist, and Sustainability Programs Officer, ensuring high standards of execution and client interaction.Ensure all ground-level transactions and data recording for projects (e.g., in the TTCB System, bXTRA OTS) are accurate and compliant with internal and contractual standards.Lead the organization and recording of all project data. Work with the Information and Systems Officer to conduct regular, in-depth data analysis to identify operational trends, measure throughput metrics, detect inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions for continuous improvement.Prepare and finalize comprehensive monthly and quarterly performance reports, including throughput, client engagement, compliance status, and financial summaries for review by the Chief Sustainability Officer.QualificationsExperience: Proven experience in sustainability program management, coupled with a strong background in Business Development, Sales, or Account Management (minimum of 5 years combined experience). Must have demonstrated expertise in Project Management and Stakeholder Management.Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022 and its implications for corporate clients and program design. Strong working knowledge of waste management principles, logistics, and material processing is essential.Skills: Expert proficiency in project planning tools, advanced financial modelling (Excel), and presentation software (e.g., Canva, Microsoft Suite). Familiarity with basic data analytics tools is a plus.Competency: Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to financial detail, strong presentation and negotiation skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and complex Client-facing roles.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sustainability, Environmental Management, or a related field.Reporting: Reports directly to the Chief Sustainability Officer.Start Date: January 5, 2025Application will be processed on a rolling basis and will remain open until the position is filled.
