Purpose of the PositionAs Head of International Relations in the division of international cooperation, you are responsible for the Europe Dossier, play a key role in advancing programmes and partnerships that connect Swiss researchers with the global scientific community. You lead the operational and strategic management of international funding instruments and collaborations, represent the SNSF in international bodies, and guide a dedicated team with vision and impact.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead the International Relations unit in all personnel, operational and strategic mattersResponsibility over the Europe Dossier and management and further development of the international complementary measuresInitiate and maintain partnerships with foreign research funding organisations and international science platformsAdvise the Research Council on international partnerships and strategic developmentsRepresent the SNSF in Swiss and international committees and organisations (e. g. Science Europe, Global Research Council)Monitor global trends and developments in science policy and international research cooperationDraft policy and background papers for strategic bodies (e. g.

Programme Committee International Cooperation, Academic Board)Collaborate closely with the Policy division and other SNSF departmentsEnsure effective and transparent communication within the team and with upper managementWho you are: In addition to your excellent strategic and conceptual skills and your great passion for science, international cooperation and building policy-relevant relationships, you possess the following competences:

University degree with a doctorate or equivalent research experienceProven leadership experience with an inclusive and collaborative leadership styleStrong knowledge of the Swiss higher education and research systemExperience in international research collaboration and programme developmentStrategic thinking with excellent conceptual and analytical skillsDiplomatic, persuasive and highly motivated to promote international cooperationExcellent command of German, French and English (C1/C2); Spanish is an assetStrong interpersonal and networking skills in multicultural contextsWillingness to take responsibility and drive innovation and changeWe offerAn exciting working environment at the interface of science, politics and international relations.
