Systems Engineer - Job DescriptionOverview:The Systems Engineer will support the design and integration of multidomain systems for advanced maritime applications.The role focuses on ensuring technical consistency across hardware, electrical, and software elements, following established systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle standards.Working within collaborative R&D projects, the Systems Engineer will help transform high-level functional concepts into coherent, verifiable subsystem designs, contributing to ETME’s broader systems engineering capability.Roles and Responsibilities: Responsible for System design and engineering, installation, testing, and integration of defence systems (System of Systems) in line with systems and software engineering life cycle standards IEEE15288 and IEEE12207. Define and maintain system and subsystem architectures, ensuring that design decisions are traceable to technical and functional requirements.Support requirements analysis and ensure consistency between customer needs, design specifications, and verification activities.Supervise and support the integration of hardware, electrical and software components. Prepare, review, and provide support to engineering documentation. Provide on-site support to assist with problem resolutions. Provides feasibility evaluation/study of various solution approaches and makes recommendation(s). Coordinate with partners on system engineering aspects. Prepare and present briefings to internal management, stakeholders, and customers. Education, Experience and Professional Skills: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, electrical engineering, or related field. Master’s degree in engineering preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering or system integration, preferably in maritime, defence, or complex R&D environments. Experience with relevant system engineering/development standards and processes (e.g. IEEE 12207, ISO 15288). Ability to integrate complex hardware and software systems. Experience working with computer hardware, operating system software and desktop applications with a specific concentration in one or more areas. Experience working with design principles and applications. Knowledge of system engineering methodologies. Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts and solutions to both engineering and management audiences. Excellent command of English, both written and verbal. Personal Skills: Proactive through continuous engagement within the company. Adaptable to day-to-day changes and capable of reprioritizing actions to support business, regulatory, and client demands. Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers, senior level personnel and team members.
