At Azets, you're in control of your career and with our support this will make us even stronger, together.Purpose of the RoleThe Tax Director role is a senior leadership position designed to support the Partners in driving the strategic direction, growth, and delivery of the firm’s tax services. Acting as a key member of the Tax leadership team, you will oversee complex tax advisory and compliance projects, providing expert technical and commercial guidance to a diverse client portfolio. You will work closely with Partners to develop and implement client strategies, manage high-value engagements, and ensure exceptional service delivery. In addition, you will play an active role in mentoring managers and the wider team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous professional development. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the firm’s strategic objectives, strengthen client relationships, and support the Partners in expanding and enhancing the firm’s market presenceKey responsibilities will include:Lead and oversee the delivery of complex tax advisory, planning, and compliance engagements for a diverse portfolio of high-value clients, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial relevance. Work closely with Partners to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive the growth and success of the tax practice. Provide expert technical guidance on complex tax matters, offering innovative and commercially sound solutions to meet client objectives. Manage and review high-level tax planning projects, including corporate restructurings, and succession planning for business owners. Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships through proactive communication and strategic insight. Oversee and mentor other team members, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional development. Represent the firm in dealings with Revenue and other regulatory bodies, managing complex queries and audits with professionalism and authority. Keep abreast of evolving tax legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of technical and strategic excellence. Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, supporting tender and proposal preparation, and enhancing the firm’s market presence. Collaborate with Partners on firmwide initiatives, operational improvements, and the continuous enhancement of service quality and client experience.Qualifications / Key RequirementsProfessional Qualification: CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA (or equivalent) qualified. Experience: Proven experience in Corporate Tax or Mixed Tax within a professional practice environment at a senior management or director level. Industry Exposure: Broad experience working with clients across multiple sectors, with the ability to adapt technical expertise to varied business contexts. Technical Expertise: Strong and up-to-date technical knowledge of Irish tax legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply complex tax rules effectively. Analytical Ability: Demonstrated capability to conduct detailed research into complex areas of tax law and develop practical, commercially focused solutions. Leadership: Experience leading teams, managing multiple engagements, and mentoring junior colleagues to achieve high standards of performance and client service. Client Focus: Strong relationship management skills, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality advice and building long-term client partnerships.
