We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.Description of the workplace.The position is placed at the Division of Solid State Physics at the Department of Physics, where extensive research is carried out centred on various aspects of nanophysics, ranging from materials science to bio- and quantum physics to various applications. The Division is a central part of NanoLund, Lund University's large interdisciplinary research centre on nanoscience and nanotechnology. The Division includes Lund Nano Lab, a central and shared facility to produce materials and components at the nanoscale. The Division has a strong commitment to undergraduate education, not least in the Master's programme "Engineering Nanoscience" at LTH.The research group of Prof. Heiner Linke uses experimental and numerical methods to study phenomena in diverse systems such as semiconductor nanostructures, biomolecular systems and fluids including artificial bio-molecular motors based on DNA and proteins.The teaching assistant positions are in collaboration with Dr. Amijai Saragovi. The Saragovi research group develops next-generation protein design strategies for sustainability, nanotechnology, and hybrid biomaterials. A key focus is the creation of protein–silica hybrid materials, designed through computational modeling and validated in experimental systems. These materials have the potential to open new frontiers in bioelectronics, environmental applications, and advanced materials science.Work dutiesAs a teaching assistant, your duties may vary and should provide insight into the academic world at the faculty where you are studying.Responsibilities in these positions include:Running and adapting state-of-the-art protein design models.Writing and applying Python scripts for workflow automation and data filtering.Contributing to computational design challenges involving proteins, small molecules, and ions.Working towards the design of protein–silica hybrid materials as part of collaborative lab projects.Qualification RequirementsOnly those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as teaching assistants. The MSc degree must not have been awarded yet.Required qualifications:Admitted to relevant first or second-cycle courses in engineering, computer science, biotechnology, or related field.Experience with Python programming.Very good oral and written proficiency in English Additional requirements:Strong logical problem-solving skills and ability to think systematically about complex design problems.Previous experience in a biochemistry or molecular biology lab is an advantage.We offerLund University is a public authority which means that employees get particular benefits, generous annual leave and an advantageous occupational pension scheme. The employment must not negatively affect the Teaching Assistants studies and must not be combined with other employment. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12.
