The Role Purpose:To lead and coordinate the Product Design Team responsible for defining and documenting comprehensive RMS product specifications. This involves capturing customer requirements, performing competitive analyses, ensuring adherence to industry standards (TM Forum, ITU, 3GPP, IEEE), and developing detailed data models, functional specifications, UI/UX designs, and business intelligence reports. This role ensures these artifacts effectively support product development and align seamlessly with engineering and GTM teams.Your Responsibilities will include:Define the Market: • Guide extensive industry, competitor, and customer research, focusing specifically on functional requirements of the RMS/EMS. • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends.Define the Product: • Develop thorough data models, functional workflows, telemetry mappings, and user journeys. • Lead the creation of detailed PRDs and associated design documentation. • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Design the Product: • Provide leadership in defining RMS and RTU specifications, telemetry, and AI-driven analytics. • Develop detailed RMS functional specifications covering workflows, telemetry mappings, UX/UI flows, and reporting. • Ensure consistency across all functional documentation, UX/UI designs, and reporting frameworks. • Promote innovation, especially in AI, ML, and analytics to maintain a competitive edge.Build Alignment:• Collaborate closely with Product Engineering to ensure clear handover and interpretation of design specifications. • Support GTM teams by aiding in preparation of customer-facing materials and demos. • Prioritise product features based on business value, customer needs, and competitive analysis.• Support Product Development: Actively engage in agile processes, ensuring iterative validation of functional designs. • Maintain clarity and completeness in documentation to facilitate streamlined development.Test the Product: • Define functional validation strategies and collaborate with QA to ensure product compliance. • Guarantee product adherence to regulatory and industry-specific IoT/RMS standards.Evolve the Product: • Continuously track advancements in IoT, AI, ML, edge computing, and industry standards. • Regularly refine product designs based on market feedback and customer insights. • Maintain a clear and dynamic Product Roadmap.Domain Expert: • Serve as a subject matter expert on RMS functionality, RTU integration, telemetry analytics, and reporting. • Provide guidance and mentorship to the Design TeamThe ideal candidate for the role will have the following qualifications and experience:• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. Advanced degrees beneficial. • Certifications in System Architecture, Functional Analysis, IoT, or SCADA/RMS technologies advantageous. • Knowledge of relevant RMS management standards, frameworks and methodologies (such as ITU, TMF, ITIL, etc.) advantageous. • Relevant qualifications in BI and AI beneficial.Work Experience:• Minimum 4 years of experience in either designing, specifying, developing, and/or using RMS/EMS/SCADA solutions. • Proven track record leading product technical design teams in telecoms, utilities, energy management, or similar industries. • Experience with RTUs, telemetry, edge computing, and AI/ML integration. • Demonstrated success working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, and marketing.Skills:• Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to inspire and manage technical design teams.• Competent in translating operational needs into functional flows with UX-focused design. • Strong understanding of RMS principles (FCAPS). • Strong competency in UI/UX principles, data modelling, and BI report design. • Advanced analytical thinking and technical problem-solving abilities. • Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts both verbally and in writing. • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.The Company’s approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
