It aims to provide visitors with a welcoming, informative and unique experience that honours the legacy of Sheikh Zayed and his lifelong commitment to preserving the rich culture and heritage of the UAE and its people.Job Purpose: To support the Exhibitions & Display department in the technical requirements for all Zayed national Museum exhibition design, operations and support the implementation of the strategy around the technical requirements for permanent, and future temporary exhibitions planning by providing a quick and responsive maintenance service to ensure that gallery showcases, displays, audio-visual (AV) equipment and interactive displays are working to full capacity and support a positive visitor experience. Responsibilities:Pre-OpeningSupport the pre-opening teams in the fabrication & installation of permanent/temporary gallery displays, coordinating work on site to ensure installation, commissioning and testing deadlines are met.Observe the installation of lighting, showcases and gallery displays in order to understand the maintenance requirements of each galleryOngoingDesign temporary and permanent exhibits including developing initial design concept narrative, and visitor journey.Produce concept sketches, mood boards, and design researchCoordinate with external designers and contractors, AV consultants, and graphic designersProduce, review and approve construction shop drawings and material samples.Coordinate the fabrication and installation of exhibits, progress chasing and monitoring to ensure exhibition schedules are followed and met and kept within budgets.Coordinate the daily maintenance and operation of the exhibitions including electronics, audio-visual and computer driven components of exhibits and shows.Work with Conservator to monitor the exhibition environment, ensuring environmental standards are always maintained.To liaise with external contractors as required under the supervision of the Exhibitions Unit HeadTo monitor on-site exhibition installation under the supervision of the Exhibitions Unit Head.Ensure that the necessary internal approvals are sought, gained and implemented; and Draft, edit and proofread exhibition text as required.Project-coordinate updates to long term galleries and displays.Research external contractors and service providers as required for exhibition production on behalf of the exhibitions & displays team.Under the direction of the Exhibitions Unit Head, coordinate installation and de-installation of all exhibitions.Coordinate with venue security staff, exhibition designers and fabricators and external consultants.Supervise the preparation, installation and removal of all objects and materials in displays.Ensure external consultants follow the standard operating procedures and policies of the department.Required Experience:Minimum of 3 years of experience At least 2+ years experience at exhibition project coordination level in the provision of technical service functions in a cultural institution or museum setting. Experience of exhibition, gallery, event or theatre set design.Experience of preparing and managing budgets.Experience in project coordination, exhibit fabrication, related construction work.Demonstrated ability in the use of audio-visual and interactive techniques.Knowledge of standard conservation practice and security practice.Demonstrable experience of providing technical maintenance for displays, galleries, AV equipment and interactive and digital displays.Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams and contractors.Knowledge and understanding of access awareness.Knowledge in using technical design software such as AutoCAD or Vector worksKnowledge in reading and editing floorplans and technical construction drawingsFluency in English.Preferred ExperienceHealth and safety management qualification.Relevant practical qualification, e.g. electrical, joinery, etc.Experience of project-managing temporary exhibition installation.Experience of installing and maintaining galleries and exhibitions.Additional languages, especially Arabic, are highly desirable. and maintaining galleries and exhibition.Required qualifications:Bachelor degree in a relevant subject, e.g. Interior Design, Architecture and Graphic Design.
