ABOUT USThe Barbados Civil Aviation Authority is the national regulatory body overseeing all aspects of civil aviation. Our aim is to ensure the highest standards of safety, security, and efficiency in the aviation industry.POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a suitably qualified individual for the position of Technical Librarian within the Flight Safety Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Authority’s Technical Library and Technical Records, ensuring that all controlled documents, publications, and technical materials are accurately catalogued, securely stored, and readily accessible.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESManage the acquisition, organization, cataloguing, and secure storage of all technical and regulatory documents, including ICAO materials, BCAA publications, and operator manuals.Ensure that aircraft records, personnel licensing files, and other controlled documents are accurately maintained in both physical and electronic formats.Oversee document control procedures to ensure that all amendments, manuals, and circulars are updated and properly recorded.Supervise and guide administrative staff to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient technical library environment. Maintain subscriptions to regulatory and technical publications, ensuring invoices are processed in a timely manner.Provide information and research support to internal users of the Technical Library and liaise with external bodies such as ICAO and other civil aviation authorities.Maintain electronic databases and ensure the safekeeping of digital publications and records.Receive, file, and track Mandatory Occurrence Reports and other safety documentation.Ensure that all technical storage areas are environmentally controlled and secure to preserve sensitive records.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, or a related discipline, with at least two (2) years’ experience in a library, technical documentation, or controlled records environment;ORDiploma or Certificate in Library Science, Education, or a related field, with at least five (5) years’ experience in a library or aviation-related documentation role.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREDKnowledge of library procedures and document control practices.Understanding of technical documentation used in aviation or other regulated industries.Strong administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic filing and cataloguing systems
