Uttaran is looking for Technical Officer - Gender Justice & LivelihoodJob Description / ResponsibilityProject: Nari Shakti Samaz, Shakti Project (NSSS)Direct Reports to: Project ManagerAbout Uttaran & Project ContextUttaran is a national development organization working in the coastal region of Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged. Uttaran facilitates in getting access to and control over resources by the poor and disadvantaged to improve agricultural productivity and economic empowerment.Uttaran with the assistance of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation is implementing Nari Shakti Samaz Shakti (NSSS) project. The objective of the project is to establish a gender-transformative enabling environment that empowers women and marginalized groups to foster safer, inclusive, and resilient communities in the vulnerable contexts of Cox’s Bazar. The project focuses on protecting women and girls aged 10–35 in both host and refugee communities by enhancing resilience, reducing disaster vulnerabilities and creating alternative livelihood opportunities.Responsibilities:The key responsibilities for this role may include the followingProvide capacity-building training for LSPs (off-farm & on-farm) and project participants on gender justice, women’s leadership, and livelihood programSupport the identification of harmful social norms, community barriers, and opportunities through participatory methods.Encourage joint initiatives with community leaders, youth groups, and local authorities to build social cohesion.Develop plans for organizing National/international days, including 16 Days of Activism,International Women’s Day, National & International Disaster PreAssist the supervisor in preparing quarterly, half-yearly, and annual reports as per the project design.Collect good pictures and case stories in the field for documentation.Identify and assess potential women entrepreneurs within target communities.Design and facilitate training on entrepreneurship, business planning, business development and financial management.Support the development of small enterprises including market linkage facilitation.Coordinate with local government, private sector actors, and financial institutions to ensure access to services and resources for women entrepreneurs.Provide ongoing mentoring and technical assistance to monitoring officer.Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation progress, verify data quality and provide feedback for improvement.Facilitate participatory community monitoring and feedback mechanisms to ensure accountability and responsiveness.Ensure documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and case studies to support knowledge sharing and learning.Ensure alignment with gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding principles in all project activities.Collaborate closely with program, communications, and finance teams to ensure data- informed decision-making and compliance.Provide support at the community level for organizing events, workshop, meeting and training when required.Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.Educational RequirementsBachelor of Business Administration (BBA)Masters in Gender studies, Social Science or Business Administration or in relevant discipline.Experience RequirementsAt least 5 year(s)The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGOAdditional RequirementsProven experience working with NGOs/CBOs on GBV prevention, protection systems, and livelihood intervention, prioritizing women’s empowerment.Become familiar with referral systems, community protection structures, and conflict-sensitive approaches.Proven experience in activity planning, implementation, budgeting, staff management, and report writing.Experience in working with government line departmentsExperience in delivering training for a variety of state and non-state actor audiences (local NGOs, government authorities, etc.Strong decisions making ability and motivational skill especially with rural communitiesAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.Ability to work under pressure and complete deliverables on time.Fluent in local or Rohingya language.Strong management skills including the ability to provide strategic guidance, technical oversight, mentor staff, build strong teams, develop work plans,Excellent communication and report-writing skills in EnglishProficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer skillsJob LocationCox`s Bazar, Cox`s Bazar (Teknaf)SalaryTk. 60000 (Monthly)
