Technical Sales Specialist – Life Sciences (Ireland)

Job Description

This is a hands-on commercial and technical role that requires a consultative sales approach. The ideal candidate will have previous life science experience and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.You will work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to drive revenue growth, manage product positioning, implement system installations, support customers, and introduce new technologies to the Irish life science market.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and grow assigned product lines within the laboratory automation, genomics, and biobanking portfolio across Ireland.Achieve annual sales and margin targets through strategic account planning, tender participation, and proactive market development.Identify, develop, and close sales opportunities through prospecting and activity management.Actively manage leads through the full sales cycle using CRM tools, email, phone, and other communication channels.Identify emerging opportunities in research, clinical, and biobanking sectors.Act as the primary contact for designated international suppliers.Support and develop marketing activities in collaboration with channel partners.Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and product lifecycle developments.Conduct technical consultations, configure solutions, and deliver product demonstrations and presentations at customer sites.Provide high-quality pre- and post-sales support in collaboration with service and applications teams.Contribute to digital marketing and CRM-driven lead generation initiatives.Participate in training programmes to maintain strong product knowledge and market awareness.Collaborate effectively with colleagues across sales, service, administration, and logistics to ensure an exceptional customer experience.Maintain and update technical knowledge through courses and internal training.Qualifications & ExperiencePreferably MSc or higher in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline (or equivalent laboratory experience).Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical sales, business development, or applications support within the laboratory distribution sector.Strong communication, presentation, training, and negotiation skills.Experience with laboratory automation software or relevant laboratory software is highly desirable.Full clean driving license required.Key AttributesScientific curiosity combined with commercial acumen.Self-starter who enjoys autonomy and accountability.Ability to understand complex technical requirements and present tailored solutions.Strong collaborator with a cross-functional, team-oriented mindset.High level of customer service orientation and communication skills.Adaptable, problem-solving attitude suited to an SME environment.Experience working in life science distribution.What’s on OfferCompetitive salary and performance-based bonus scheme.Company car or travel expense scheme, laptop, and mobile phone.Pension and healthcare benefits (post probation).Comprehensive product and professional training in Ireland and overseas.Opportunity to represent leading global brands and cutting-edge technologies.Supportive, collaborative team culture within a growing organisation.Social club, company events, and Bike-to-Work scheme.
