Inclusive of Superannuation + Leave LoadingThe Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join one of our technical teams supporting the NICM Health Research Institute. The Technical Support Officer will support the day-to-day operation of the PC2 certified research laboratory and Zebrafish facility, including daily husbandry duties, all aspects of colony management, and the keeping of accurate records and documentation to ensure the health and well-being of animals. Additionally, the Technical Support Officer will work within a team of technical officers to provide support to other laboratories within the Institute as required. The incumbent is expected to perform their work with minimal supervision, and to liaise with other technical and academic staff to achieve high quality outcomes.This is a part-time, fixed-term opportunity until 19 October 2026 based at Westmead Campus. Travel to other campuses of the University may be required.Hours of work for employees in Teaching & Research Technical Services may vary due to operational requirements in supporting teaching classes or research projects.For further information, please refer to the Position Description linked here: Technical Support Officer, Biological ResearchWho We’re Looking ForWe are seeking a technically skilled and highly motivated individual with a relevant qualification such as an associate diploma in Animal Science and at least two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience specific to biological research. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in animal care, particularly in handling fish, and be proficient in operating and maintaining complex equipment within an aquarium facility. A strong understanding of legislation governing the use of animals in research is essential.
