We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our team in Brussels.Introduction/Context:As a full-time employee, you will be part of our EUSS Service at the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE). You will be responsible for creating and maintaining public documentation about the RecFishing system, as well as preparing training materials and delivering training sessions to EU Member States. RecFishing is an electronic system designed to facilitate data collection and catch reporting from recreational fisheries across the EU, in collaboration with EU coastal countries. This new system aims to eliminate existing disparities in data collection and enhance the reliability of EU-wide assessments. Description of tasks:Produce high quality documentation for the information systems.Write concise, easy-to-understand documentation that simplifies complex technical concepts into content consumable by all skill levels and roles.Collaborate with Project Managers, Software Engineers, Developers, Support Engineers and more, to scope and define documentation projects.Ensure that documentation is available in time, aligned with the product development and maintenance process.Work with internal teams on product and documentation requirements.Provide services to all stakeholders according to ITIL best practices, handling and documenting all requests and feedback.Training Delivery:Design and deliver engaging training sessions to EU Member States on the use of the RecFishing system.Facilitate live training sessions, both online and in person. Maintain training materials up-to-date and aligned with EC standards. Ensure compliance with the organization's knowledge management strategy, communication, training and learning policies, and data security regulations. Knowledge and skills:Minimum 2 years of experience in a Technical Writer / Training Specialist role. Proficiency in English (C1 level or higher). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable.Ability to structure and design technical information logically (e.g. user guides, release notes, FAQs, API docs).Attention to detail, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with style and terminology standards.Experience with documentation tools (e.g. Confluence, SharePoint, Git, Markdown, XML/DITA systems).Experience in designing learning materials and training content that make technical topics accessible.Presentation & facilitation skills, delivering live or virtual training confidently and clearly.Other requirements:EU Citizenship.Resident or available to relocate to Belgium.Ready to embark on an exciting journey with us?
