Technical Writer – Digital Uplift ProgramContract: 12 months + 2 extensionsLocation: Canberra (Hybrid)Hours: Up to 40 per weekClearance: Must hold or be able to obtain NV1 Security ClearanceAbout the RoleWe’re seeking experienced Technical Writers to join a large-scale Digital Uplift Program supporting application modernisation initiatives.You’ll play a key role in developing, standardising, and maintaining high-quality ICT documentation across multiple systems and work packages.Working within a collaborative technology team, this role involves creating new documentation as well as reverse-engineering existing materials to meet current design, accessibility, and compliance standards. It’s a hands-on role that combines technical precision with strong communication and stakeholder engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, edit, and maintain clear, accurate documentation including system guides, process maps, user manuals, and technical references.Work closely with system analysts, engineers, UX designers, and project teams to ensure content accuracy and alignment with delivery milestones.Create materials that support user adoption, training, and organisational change initiatives.Ensure all documentation complies with government standards and accessibility guidelines (e.g. WCAG).Manage version control and maintain structured repositories for all documentation.Review and update technical content in line with evolving policies, processes, and systems.Skills and ExperienceEssentialProven experience as a technical writer within ICT or digital transformation projects.Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills across multidisciplinary teams.Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to documentation quality.Understanding of government standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
